I know you have to play the teams in your conference but, both of these wannabe big time programs went straight to the bottom to look for out of conference play. I know everybody does it but, could these two have played somebody 1/2 decent out of the big east, maybe mix in a road game ? Who ever wins tonight has no creditability. Most seem to think that Wv is the better of the two going in but, how do we know ? Better than what ? I watched both of these teams play Syracuse and they both looked about the same. Wv had the home field so was a TD better. Wv had to come from 17 down in the 4th last yr to win in the 3rd OT with a missed 2 pt conversion. V Tech is the last team to beat both of these untested over ranked teams. V Tech has lost to BC & G Tech. I would take my chances with either of those against these two, on any field SU. These two both had 3 to's against Syracuse and their Qb's both had 0 TD's & 1 INT. This might be a big game, but it's not top 10 football.

you maybe right but youare alsowrong-there is a strong possibility this game says who plays for nc you do not get much bigger than that- does it matter that they deserve it-not really because it is what it is a huge game

One counter point to what you said about the out of conference schedule. West Virginia has no excuse, they are bitches when it comes to scheduling out of conference opponents. Their biggest non-conference opponents are Maryland and Miss. St. These teams have not been top tier at all in recent history.

However, to defend the "ville" a little bit, they did schedule Miami and Kansas State (on the road). Knowing that these schedules are set a few years in advance I would say that is pretty worthy. Miami was a national championship team a few years back and K-State was definitely a top tier team until maybe 2 or 3 years ago.

just a thought

I do think this is a big game because both teams are undefeated and very evenly matched so it should be a great game. :SIB

It is a big game in terms of $$$$ 's . The loser of this one, especially if it's one sided will lose millions come bowl time. Which coach and players is best equipped to Handle the pressure ? It is a big game in our current system, but this is no dream match up nationally.

FWIW WV used to play VT all the time. Then last year was their last year of their long run of playing each other. Because of scheduling conflicts VT hadn't been rescheduled and wouldn't be for 8 years I think they said.
I think it was VT that dropped WV actually, though I could be wrong. And I know the coaches said they were sad that the streak had to stop but wouldn't be seeing each other for awhile.
So I dont know how far in advance they make these schedules, but I am pretty sure its more than a couple of years.

It is a hUGE game.

Whether it SHOULD be is a totally different question. I for one dont think it is very telling for the winner tonight. it doesnt suddenly make them (or confirm) they are bettter than Florida, or Texas, or Michigan or whomever, simply becuase there is no point of reference.

As i posted in another thread, one could just as easily argue Boise should be in the spot these teams are in. Not because I think Boise is great, but they are unbeaten, play ina crap conference too, yet they beat what must be a pretty decent Oregon State team, and did so badly.

The winner probably gets the title shot, gets killed, and then of course we can all question whether somebody else would have been able to beat Ohio State.

So its Ohio St and everyone else huh? I just hope when Ohio St loses they arent clamoring for a rematch with Mich.

Pertaining to the Big East, every year we get our hopes that there is this big mess in the BCS but it always crumbles.....This year will be no different as there won't be a big east undefeated team.....Louisville beats WV, Rutgers beats Lousiville(then comes the talk of Rutgers NC) but then they get beat by WV.........then Big East goes into hibernation until bowl season

Why is the Big 12 considered a a tough conference??

Because you get to play powerhouses like Baylor, Kansas, K State, Iowa State, Texas Tech OK State...good grief.

Don't even get me started on the Big 10..with Ind, NW, Illinois...

The 3rd best team in the country is playing the 5th best tonight..end of discussion.

In my opinion...Boise St would beat Texas on the blue turf.

yes it does........i really meant about all this chatter from a big east unbeaten and all the hoopla thats surrounding them, right now neither of those 3 teams played a worthy opponent and only when they start playing each other and beating each other up should we consider talking about title hopes if one emerges from there....this is what the other 5 BCS conferences do week in and week out during conference play.......

Lville huge win tonite, letdown next week on the road against a rutgers team with there biggest game in years, only to get steam rolled by WVU.....I really see that scenario playing out and I hope we do.........

that will leave us with 2 unbeatens......ohio st/mich winner, boise st and a handful of one loss teams that arent really seperated by much except someones opinion

I never said the Big 12 was tough. In fact I said the very opposite, before the season, during the season ,and again now. If you paid attention to what I write instead of thinking you know what I think it would probably help.

Your last two opinions are just comical.

and west virginia would run thru a schedule of Ohio St, Mich, Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn St and Purdue with a non conference game such as ND??? yeah ok

getting hit by eastern washington, marshall, ecu and uconn is a little different then playing in the Big 10 on a weekly basis.....wvu would be an above average team in that conference but never sniffing a national title game

lets see .... boise was soundly beaten on the blue turf last year by an average boston college team in a pre-new years bowl.

boise brings back an identical roster this year
.... and now they're beating texas at home?

teams like boise are good for college football, and ive made my share of money on them. but they would get smoked by the horns.

Probably going to find out......unless something odd happens it is gonna be Texas v Boise in the Fiesta.

And Texas and its fans wont care and maybe Boise makes it interesting. Bowl games always have these other factors to where I just dont one can make much out of the results. Like last year's Sugar Bowl. Big game for WVirginia. But did Georgia really care about their exciting bowl game with no title implications with a big trip dwon tthe street to Atlanta?

Total up the total offense ranks of Louisville and WVU opponents and you get an avg of 85
