Just reflecting back on what was the biggest game of the year (so far) last night.
You guys might think I'm whacko but I think....
On a neutral site, WVa beats Louisville 7 out of 10... their offense was only stopped by their fumbles and when they got the ball back they went and scored again even w/o their all-american rb... but L-ville (which has had one of the very top offensive programs for the last few years -avg. 50+ pts gm at home) has a good enough QB and receivers to score on a regular basis against the avg. WVa defense and stay ahead and win the game, not too many teams can score 40+ pts on anybody, and they needed all of em to win.
After all L-ville and nat'l media built this up as biggest gm in school history, they're at home, Nat'l TV, only (big school) gm that day in the country, and that counts for quite a bit when you have a good team to begin with... I remember a Va Tech school at home that didn't have a chance last week against an 'awesome' Clemson team winning easily under those circumstances.
I was also impressed with WVA QB White, very cool and calm under adverse conditions, team falling behind, and star RB standing and watching from the sidelines...when they finally tried to throw the ball I thought he was fine, but they just didn't try very often...
Final Point: Just consider that there aren't that many great QB's and offenses in the country that can keep scoring all game. I think you better have one of the high-scoring pass offenses to beat WVa. It appears their pass defense is definitely shaky against those good, tall receivers...
What if they played schools that don't pass so much like... Auburn? Arkansas?
I think they'd beat Notre Dame in a shootout...
I hope they get matched against a big-name school bcuz I think it'd be fun to watch...
WVa scored on big-name 1-loss teams last year (ask Georgia) and can still score this year so I think that whoever WVa plays in a bowl game better have one of those great offenses or they'll go down...
I can't think of too many defenses that can stop em... and I will most likely bet the OVER on their bowl game too...
None of this is really important right now so don't get all worked up about my thread. I'm just fighting a cold here at home and probably just have too much time on my hands...
Good Luck all and...Lets Get some WINNERS TOMORROW!!
