Hope I'm not jinxing it but this guy is usually in the know at carolina. I had been hearing all week he was coming to town and they would offer upwards of a mil or 2. Hope he sticks around for more than a few years, and not pull a mack on unc.

would be a good hire for carolina. davis flamed out with the browns but only because he was using motivational tactics that were better suited for the college game. and as plenty have found, recruiting blue chip talent is much different than drafting it once a round in the nfl. he would have the program competiting in the acc in a hurry.

I have a feeling he will be visiting several schools,
he can pick and choose. (Miami?)

Why in the hell would you ever move to East Lansing, when you could be in Chapel Hill?!?!

Looks like it may have been a premature ejaculation...downgraded to "in talks" as some of you have said.

We'll see what next week brings, but I would be a bit surprised if unc did lock this up because davis is pretty much on the top of many lists out there. I figured he'd shop around a bit.

Can't really fault Mack for leaving UNC for Texas. He had taken the UNC program about as far as he could. The Texas job is one of the top five coaching jobs in the country.

I agree I don't fault him, but he took carolina to 10-2 in 96-97 and then followed it up with an 11-1 and 5th ranked team at the end of the year. Carolina has the name, the campus, the facilities and the financial support to have a football powerhouse.

In the past the administration had been happy with mediocrity. Donors have not been happy and as you guys know many times the almighty dollar speaks the loudest.

Career wise: If he goes to UNC, it's a mistake. If he goes to East Lansing, it's a catastrophe.

UNC is a basketball school in a part of the country that is loaded with football powerhouses.

MSU is always going to be playing second-fiddle to Michigan.

Only a true moron would take a "football" coaching job @ North Carolina under the Hitler..er..Roy Williams regime. This man, Roy Williams, will see to it that there will be no emphasis placed on a competing sport (mens) vs. "good ole Roy". He tried to keep that KU program down for years (Terry Allen). I hate that bastard...and I went to Arizona.

Don't be bitter that Roy came home and has already won a championship.

Just be happy kansas is getting sketchy enough to reinstate players because of injuries, it's pretty funny what desperate times will bring.

And the tired old "UNC is a basketball school" argument. It wasn't always that way, go back and look at the carolina teams in the early 90s and at other times. As I said, we have the facilities, the brand name, beautiful campus, good weather, hot women. Now it seems we may have the commitment from our board which wasn't there lately.

I'll say the one thing lacking is a big recruiting pool like a Florida or Texas school has. As far as "football powerhouses" in our area as someone mentioned, care to mention them? I can't think of a single powerhouse within 300 miles of chapel hill.

I was actually disappointed in the women when I went to the game there in 2002. I guess everywhere cant be Austin or Tempe....but I expected more.

Dude, read my post- I graduated from Arizona. I hate KU basketball (mainly because of that con man "good ol' Roy".) I do support KU football because my father played there. Trust me pal, Roy will keep Bunting there as long as possible. Good luck w/your football program :mj07:

Any more word on Davis?

My sources tell me that Carolina is talking to Butch Davis in Cleveland now trying to work out a deal. I've heard that Baddour is completely out of it and that the offer is around $2.2 million.
