i dont live too far from stadium and it has been pouring here for 4 days ... not much wind tho ... Ill keep you guys posted, supposed to keep raining, obviously no roof on field, only safeco ...

i cant bet this game, Oak has no appeal and i think the hawks are pretty lame right now ... dont be surprised if the super slick conditions cause 14 flukey pts ... 34.5 is no U bargain IMO

Thanks for the update pt. You say not much wind? Thats a good thing IMO. If the wind isn't much of a factor I don't see just rain having an impact on the under. If anything it will cause slick conditions, which lead to turnovers and scoring opportunities and could contribute to the over. Please keep everyone updated.

Gregg, sorry I didn't answer your question last night, had several people over for game. Answering the question I know for a fact, AV is by far the highest paid kicker in NFL currently, this is totally against New England philosophy. I know Patriots offered him "franchise player" contract, which I believe they average top 3 players at your position, and you get that average salary. AV, said that was a insult. New England could have offered him that label, and he would have no choice but to play, or hold out, ultimately what Branch ended up doing. Similar to the Branch situation, management told AV, to investigate and see if he could attain a better deal. Indy offered him a record breaking deal.

New England has a philosophy that is much different than most teams. Sometimes people argue against it, I did when Willie McGinnist left for Cleveland, he was a guy that was drafted by New England, played his entire career here in. And I wish he had the opportunity to stay, but Patriots don't pay a dollar more for somebody, it doesn't matter who they are. It's hard to argue, because they have won 3 Super Bowl s. They look at it like this, since Brady started playing in 2001, by far there are other NFL teams with more talent (stars) than Patriots, but don't win. For example you could easily argue Manning is better than Brady, certainly Harrison, Wayne, and Edge were more talented than Patriots skill players. But from 2001 to present, Indy has zero Super Bowls. They have paid huge dollars for Manning Harrison and Wayne, so much so they couldn't afford to keeps Edge, also the rest of their roster suffers, remember its a 53 man roster, and there is a salary cap involved. That's where New England generally wins, they have no high priced stars, certainly guys like Brady, Seymour, Brueski etc. play like stars, but the definitely aren't paid as such, they take less money, in exchange for winning, that's the sell line Patriots management uses on them, that's why Brady isn't in the top 5 paid quarterbacks. Guys like ty law didn't buy into this philosophy, and ultimately left to make much more money with jets & Kansas City, but he no longer plays in Super Bowls or playoff.

In other words New England uses a smaller percentage of the salary cap on the best 10 players on the team, but if they can get those guys to commit to this, their players 11 through 53 are more talented players. You have seen in past years Indy has absolutely no defense, primarily because they have spent the majority of their money on their offensive all*players, but this hasn't as of yet served their playoff needs yet. Same thing with Seattle, they spend so much money with Alexander, guys like Hutchinson were let go. Those peripherals, or less obvious stars, are still crucial parts of the team. Ultimately AV, refused to be in the average of the top 3 kickers paid. Lots of fans considered him greedy for this. Sometimes its hard to argue, how many million is enough? Adam made lots and lots of money from endorsements in New England also. He had commercials with Ford dealers of New England, and several restaurants etc. I'm sure that money was significant. It's too bad, he seems like a quality guy, he lives in the neighborhood near my parents, everyone says he is a nice guy, just didn't work out. Hope that explains it somewhat

thanx, shamrock, really appreciate u taking time to write all that ... i think everyone agrees Pats key is their coach ... did you read halberstams book on him? i love, Halby, and it made Tuna look like idiot here and there .. anyhow, the book is worth reading for sure ...

its too bad teams cant keep their guys, i come from era where i loved the cards in baseball, knowing all the players thru my youth, seeing them and knowing whod be at 2nd or cf etc ... i wonder how that loyalty has affected the public into adulthood, be interesting to see in some type of study how free agency ever creeps into our minds i.e. greed over staying with your 'ole team' ...

and you are right, having 40 good players is always gonna beat 10 great ones and 30 decent ones in fball ...

as far as the weather ...

stil rainy and will cont. so

wind says 20-30 gusts, I dont see a ton here for last couple hours; maybe nearer the water where stadium is it will be worse

Rain with no wind can help passing game. Receiver knows where he's going, etc. Just a little harder to throw and catch at times with wet ball.

As for free agency, I still hate it. For a reference, I'm 33 y.o.
I grew up a huge Cowboys fan. I lived and died Dallas Cowboys. I loved Danny White, Tony Dorsett, and so many more.
Year after year, you knew who was going to be there.
In 1989, after Jerry Jones crap, I could no longer like this team. Came in and changed everything. I became a Falcons fan.

By about 2000, free agency got to be just too much for me. I started following players and also started gambling and playing fantasy f'ball. I haven't had a fav team since 2000. If the nfl went away, it wouldn't be a big deal.

How in the world can a Dallas fan cheer for T.O. after what he did TWICE to the star? How can you cheer for a whore like Deion who jumps from SF to Dallas just to win SB's.

Its not what it used to be.

I was going to take the Raiders at +7, but I'm going to switch and go over. The weather will not be a factor at all. With the drop in the line because of the overreaction to the weather you are getting excellent value. Go over!

How does everyone like the Over now? The Raiders have been an Under team all season. You have Seattle with their 2 top offensive players out. You also have windy conditions and rain.:scared

Under 35 for 5*

I've got the game rated at 38 to 40 points. The reason to go over is simple. The public has overreacted to the weather, which has driven it down and obviously isn't that bad at all and won't be much of a factor, if any at all. The over IMO is a very strong play. Fade or play...your call.

I'm a junkie....

I took Sea -7
I took Over 34
I took teaser... Sea ML, Over 27

If your looking for a prop....I need Darrell Jackson to get 14 pts for a fantasy win. (around 80 yds and a touchdown OR 140 yards with no TD)

So, bet against Jackson. Thats my LOCK of the night :)

Weather doesn't appear to be a factor and the Raiders are already imploding. Great when you have Raiders & Under... could be a terrible game for me to watch.:scared :com: :sadwave:

Gregg, you are going to like Dion Branch, real quality kid. Excellent receiver also, he came in as a rookie and worked every day against Ty Law, who is a possible hall of fame player. Few cb in NFL can cover Branch man on man.

Should be at least 24-0 right now. It will be tough to lose tonight, being on 'Hawks.

I took same thing in 2nd half.

Sea -3
Over 16
And parlayed both...

hey shamrock

everything i hear Brnch is great guy ... funny im not a home town fan of UW or hawks or sonics etc ... actually want Pats to win NFL ... was a lifelong bengal fan, no real reason other than kenny anderson and all the great skill guys thay had for 15 years ... now pro sports turn me off as far as rooting ... i find myself rooting for kobe not to win, etc--how twisted is that hehe ... i appreciate Spurs team attitude and Pats too ... rather root for teams Id like to coach :)

TJ,

i hear ya on free agency ... i spent 5 years in dallas as kid before you were there, but man i saw all the greats play in the cotton bowl ... nowadays I wish kids could have had the same feeling for athletes as I did, and maybe I fool myself into thinking they cared about the team b4 their wallets ... guys used to have to take a winter job when I was little to get by, how funny is that?

The weather looks like its taking a turn for the worst. It DOES look like it will be a factor in the total. Uh, oh - it looks like I was off on my over play. This game is going under.
