louisville (-5) and (55)
both completely unexpected numbers.
i played the under right away. anything more than 50 is way too high for this game. if that number stays near 55 throughout the week id be amazed.

they also hung these numbers:

usc (-7) over oregon
florida (-11) over south carolina
arkansas (-3) over tennessee
florida state (-4) over wake
some other marquee games also up.

schiano has nfl roots and coaches the same way. his whole philosophy centers around running the football, stopping the run, controlling the football, and punting/using special teams to his advantage. there is absolutely no way he is going to be letting teel (an INT machine) throw the football all over the place and trying to match louisville score for score. he is going to try to pound ray rice 25 or 30 times and just play keep away from louisville and give his defense a shot to win it. last year louisville drilled them to the tune of something like 56-5. theyre not going to let louisville come in and play basketball on grass. i would have grabbed the under if it were 50 or 51. at 55? that was a no-brainer. win or lose, i feel like its a very generous number for a game that should be played in the 40s.

If Rutgers had any experience in playing in a game of this magnitude...I'd hit them on the moneyline.

Rutgers is solid and will run the ball effectively...However, it would not surprise me to see them make mistakes, like putting the ball on the ground. (Sound familiar?)

I agree the middle number is a bit high.

-5.5 looks like a pretty sharp line. Not sure how you bet it at that #.

Brohm looks like the goods, tho. Petrino's gameplan vs WVa was excellent.

Some good points esp about the under. But I luv Louisville big time....i mean big.I love rice and leonard...defense is quick...sp teams solid..kicker great.. but Rutgers hasn't seen a defense like this. There bigger,quicker... and as athletic as RU is ,the cards are more...I had this line at -10 to -12..getting it at -5 is a 'steal".Think it will go to -6 or -7 in the next day or two.
Will post later...Teel is the worst QB in the east after Army's Peveto. He's hit the long pass maybe 3 or 4 times. His WR's are good but somewhat soft. but he throws to high, throws behind them, throws in double coverage,etc..Under is dangerous because this could be a blowout, shutout.or almost like lyr..talk later

Gotta like Ville in this one.

I just cant see The State University of New Jersey staying too close in this one.

That is to take nothing away from the bang up job they have a done at Rutgers. Incredible coaching & to turn that program around like they have is shows they have the right people in place up there in New Brunswick.

:iagree:
I've been an RU fan for a # of years now and although the program has been getting better year by year they're not at this level yet.

Louisville should take note thouigh that RU will be ready to give their best shot and any letdown thet might have this week could cause them disaster.
I would lay up to a TD in this one.

My sentiment as well. All year have waiting for the inflated line to go against Rutgers, and I think this is it. Anything under a td is a bargain in my mind. There is usually a progression to enter the big team, it's a few season process, and Rutgers has flown into a realm they just are not ready for yet. Last year was this teams' first bowl appearance in almost 3 decades and all of a sudden they are having a BCS impact? Two teams on different tiers in my opinion.

What defense, WV stopped themselves, Lville's defense isn't much better than WV's.

Lville gave up 353 rush yds to WV let alone 222 in the air. There were only 5 punts the whole game and WV only made 2 and one was a mistake for a TD.

Did Lville have anything to do with causing the fumbles, or the poor punt, sure thats possible. WV handed them the game, WV's poor defense setup the WV win by forcing 3 FG's in the 1st half, If WV doesn't turn it over we would still be ?ing the Big East only WV would be the focus.

I know Sour Grapes, let it go, games over. Just don't tell me Lville's defense is so great.

NOW, consider this
I love Lville and have to agree with most of you about Rutgers not being ready for this level of play. Just don't forget Lville gives up rush yds and Rutgers will take advantage of that and they are no slouches on defense. Rutgers has the best defensive #'s in the Big East so consider that before jumping all over Lville.

I like the Ville...Had em LW vs WV.
In a interview after the game,QB B.Brohm first comments were about the Rutgers game next week. Sound's like a very focused QB.
he'll likely the 2nd QB taken in the NFL Draft.

HC Petrino knows this year(Brohm is a SR..Bush is likely going to NFL) will be his teams best chance to be in the NC picture.

IMO too much pressure for Rutgers too win & play spoiler. I like the Cards by 10.

The oddsmakers feel pretty confident in Rutgers to open the line at 5... I have seen 6.5 to 7 now so the betting should level off. However, if you're like me, wait until gametime and you should get more than 7 points with Rutgers. Rutgers enjoyed almost 2 weeks to prepare for this game. I also love the double headed monster with Rice and Leonard in the backfield. Louisville is in an obvious letdown position as well plus the public will be pounding L'ville and I don't like being on the public side. The Lousville's players egos are going through the roof right now and this probably won't help them.

I like your angle on the game Destructor...would have been good middle opportunity to take the -5.5 and try to get more than a TD with RU.

some excellent points. i'm never eager to lay road chalk in a conference game, especially with two undefeated teams. another point, that backs both the rutgers play and the under... even while putting up 44 points against a very weak WV defense, louisville STILL stuggled in the red zone. if they settle for a few field goals, and rutgers pounds away with rice and leonard... should be a close, relatively low-scoring game.
