I was watching HBO's re-broadcast of the fights from Saturday night, and the two stooges Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley were giving their spiel before the main event.
Now, I've stated before that Merchant should have been put in a home 10 years ago, but that's another story. So, as these two are running on about some crap over Floyd Mayweather, the National Anthem starts to play in the arena. The crowd stands, etc, and you see this all unfold live in the background.
My question is: Why didn't these two interrupt their dialog to honor the Anthem? Why did they prattle on over it? Let's face it.....their schtick is just filler to kill time before the fight anyway, so do the right thing, and shut your hole!
They just elevated their voices to be heard over the music and crowd singing along to the National Anthem! I was just shocked at this!
I know we have a complete loss of respect anymore in this country, but I would expect more from an old fart like Merchant, and a guy like Lampley.
