NFL Season Record updated: 68-44-1
Another solid week going 8-2 ats. Hope to break my Monday Night jinks as I've lost 3 of the past 4 weeks.
UNDER 38 Win
I know Monday Night games always get more action towards the over, but it surprises me to see 75% of the money on it tonight. Could be some public over reaction to the first meeting between these two when they scored a combined 50 points. I see this number is still on the rise and I'll wait to place my wager and see how high it goes.
This is a different Buccaneer team with a less explosive QB. Heading into this week, only the Raiders had scored less points on offense than Tampa Bay. (12.8 ppg avg) Carolina has had a tuff time finding the endzone this year too and averages just over 17 points per contest. Both teams have slipped a bit from previous years on the defensive side of the ball falling into the bottom 12 in the league, but don't let that fool you. These are still two hard hitting teams that can confuse opposing offenses.
Carolina will be well rested following the bye week and I expect a big game from Julius Peppers who is tied for 3rd in the NFL with 8 sacks. He has been quite in his last two outings not recording a sack. They also get D. Williams back from injury tonight to spell D. Foster. I would assume their to be a heavy dose of running in coach Foxs' game plan against Tampas' poor rush defense. That should keep the clock moving. I also expect to see plenty of 3 and outs with Carolina ranking dead last in 3rd down conversion percentage.
Head coach John Gruden pretty much summed it up with this statement..."Right now, we are not the juggernaut , offensively , that I think we want to be". The Buccaneers have scored just 7 points in the 1st quarter all season long and their defense will have to step it up tonight. This team lacks the ability to out score their opponent. I expect a close low scoring affair.
Carolina has gone under the total their last 10 home games as a division favorite. Tampa Bay has gone under 10 of their past 12 road contests. I like this play quite a bit.
Good Luck Tonight Gentlemen....
