So. Cal
I read your title trossi and was sick to my stomach, everyone has been in shorts and tshirts since summer out here in SoCal - it was a cool 80 today and dropped down to about 68 when the sun went down. I couldnt even imagine it snowing and its in middle of Nov!

I keep asking myself what day it is cause it feels like we are still in august.

Wish i had some advice for snowblowing for ya though, but I dont

Some Hack lol. You are better off getting a snow blower if you are this worried. I think those plows have a gauge on them or else they would dig up every ones driveway. Something on the bottom of the plow that makes it go over things a bit higher. I would check with a neighbor who also hires someone. Sheese im still picking up leaves i think i hit 150 bags and now i have to think about snow? Why couldn't my parents be from Cal for goodness sakes?

I used to plow snow but haven't done it for about 10 years, but as far as I know, there aren't any plows with anything but metal bottoms. I have seen some fiberglass blades, but I think they would still have to have a metal cutting edge that rides on the pavement. They do have pads on the back of the blade to keep all of weight off the blade itself, but I don't think that is going to solve the problem you are wanting to avoid. (if that makes sense) Might call some places you are thinking about hiring and express your concerns and see what they have to say.

Good Luck

They don't have neighborhood kids with shovels? Or is it a large driveway. Make the wife earn her keep hand her a shovel. We don't get a lot of snow here but I did when I lived in Chicago..............my parents hired me to shovel so I moved. I think they hire a Mexican guy now and just call him FDC.

You could always head on over to Mystic Lake Bingo, get lucky and win the grand prize, Plow King. ;)
