You have brawls..
You have players getting shot dead
You have other gun play at the start of the season..
They recruit .. well ... criminals...
I would love to see those graduation rates..
BC graduates 98% Trust me the players dont get much of a break there..
Herbstriet (an idiot pretty boy by the way)
sounds like he wants to have Thanksgiving dinner with these great guys..
Punks, from Shockey to the Sarge Winslow Ray Ray, The Bard Micheal Irvan,
Has there been a quality guy this side of Ottis y man Anderson to come out of that Football team with a college attached?

I like Herbstreit a lot. I agree with the rest, except you can't blame a guy for getting shot....unless you know more about it.
I know a lot of times...where theres smoke, theres fire. I feel bad for the guy and his family, but I too wonder...

It amazes me how teams like OhioSt, Mich, PennSt, ND, etc. ever compet with teams like USC, FSU, Fla, Miami, Texas, etc.
I guess part of it is local talent wants to stay local.

All I know is that if I'm one of the best in the nation and I can pick anywhere to play....I'm going to a nice warm state with hot chicks wearing bikinis to class rather than freeze my ass off up north.
I know theres more to it than that including coaches, tradition, facilities, etc.
But all things equal, send me to the state of Florida.

Oh please, how about you guys lay off hokie fan and VT.

I agree with you Hokie - Miami act like a bunch of criminals on and off the field. I feel bad for alot of the guys on the team that Im sure are straight up guys but get a bad rap because half the bench is on the field using their helmets as weapons and stomping on players.

Miami is not innocent by no means, but in the last few years they have only had 1 arrest. TN has had a number of arrests, so has USC and Ohio State. The reputation for Miami is different than the others mentioned, but those programs aren't as clean as everyone thinks.

I have to jump in, it used to make me sick the way ESPN used to do nothing but talk about the Vick brothers!!!! They two (yes both of them) were street thugs. Marcus was worrse that Mikey but it was amazing the way they bantered after Mike left for the NFL about how he provided his brother leadership.................yea right............her Marcus, this is the way you can be an ass on the field then rape under-age girls after the game.

I feel better now. ESPN, I love the service they provide watch Sportscenter daily and listen to Mike and Mike on my commute each day, but they need some real internal look at he type of athelete the banter. Cover the game the angles the stories...YES....but dont try to provide a judgement slant that what goes on at Miami is not a problem or the Vick boys are classy..........PLEASE ESPN dont insult us all.

Now on to Football.......

I'm no Miami Hurricane fan but your knowledge of college football is sorely lacking. For starters Herbstriet has forgotten more football than you'll ever know. What Division I college football team did you quarterback? He was the quarterback for one of the best programs in the nation.

See if you remember any of these quality Miami Hurricanes

Micheal Brooks LB
Gino Toretta QB
Russell Maryland DT
Vinnie Testaverde QB
Brett Romberg G/T
Dan Morgan LB
Craig Erickson QB

Nearly every college program has some marginal character players. Miami because of proximity gets a lot of kids out of Dade County Fla. (A HS football hotbed) Ever been there Hokie it's not like your neighborhood buddy. Just for your personal information, Virginia Tech also recruited many of the very same athletes that ended up at Miami.

If you don't like the University of Miami that's cool but to shoot your mouth off without doing your homework makes you look rather foolish.

Agree totally. Miami has a big job rebuilding their program. Much wrong internally and administratively.

Still wrong to generalize and infer that every kid that goes to Miami is stupid or has no character when other schools are recruiting those same kids.
