tennessy tech +4-: bradley currently in favor by virtue of loads of early season media exposure, and has been a bettors' darling, but this is not a good spot for the braves at all. bradley is fresh off back to back games friday and saturday in chicago, then back to peoria on sunday. one practice monday, then on a flight to nashville tuesday morning, two hour bus ride to cookeville, check in, and a short night practice from 800 to 930 pm. not the best of preparation circumstances. plus, bradley has a big espn tv game @ michigan st on saturday that has to be getting some of their attention. finally, bradly has kind of a history of looking past ovc road games, as they are 0-5 s/u on their last five trips around the league.
tennessee teach is a solid ovc team that has ten returning letterman and an excellent home court record. the are well coached by ecu alum mike sutton and expected to contend for the conference crown this season. the team as well as the university as a whole have rallied in support of sutton, who was stricken with guillain-barre's syndrome last year, and is still confined to a wheelchair or walker. he has the golden eagles playing a well-run up tempo game; in fact tech is one of the few teams on bradley's schedule that will actually average more points per game (86 ppg) than the braves.
tennessee tech is a much better shooting team than their season stats show thus far, as most have been compiled in tough road venues. they showed signs of coming into form last game in a nice ten point road win at uw-milwaukee, shooting 50% from the floor and 81% from the ft line. i'm expecting at least as much tonight. little doubt in my mind that tt will win the battle on the boards tonight and assert themselves in the paint.
in sum, this game fits the siuational parameters that i like to see in an early season nonconference matchup - popular road favorite travels to lesser known school with solid home credentials in a sandwich situation that magnfies the home advantage.
and yes , i am making a smaller bet on the moneyline as well.
