Getting this installed along with the a high efficiency water heater in a couple days.

Anything I need to know as far as installation or what to tell the contractor to do?

I couldn't hit a nail with a frying pan.

IO,
Wish you had posted this earlier. The high effiency furnace is a salesman's dream. They tell you of all the savings but you probably won't see a monthly difference. The up front cost offsets the savings. The payback is probably 10-12 years and you won't see a difference of in house heat. Combustion effiency just does not offset initial cost. I would challenge the salesman at this point and show you numbers that would save you money SHORT term. For the other, make sure the duct work is neat and straight. No holes, no wasted air. Make sure you have an 1/8 pitch back to the furnace. Make sure the vent is not under a window and the condensate pump doesn't drain outside. Possible freezing. Be glad to help on other ques. GL

Thanks Morris

I'm the one going for the H/E furnace.

I have to go this route because I can't use the chimney any more. (long story)

He will be using the drain I have in the basement and I will keep an eye on the window situation.

Sounds like you're on top of things. Have them use the silver tape instead of duct tape, just alot better. Lasts longer and better quality. The window thing is important because of fumes. Just look for quality work after all you're the one paying and you know it's expensive. Ask to tape all the duct work, doesn't mean much but sometimes they do. GL
