Does this sound familiar :)

Minutes after the results were announced, Chavez appeared on the balcony of the presidential palace singing the national anthem. He pledged to deepen his effort to transform Venezuela into a socialist society.

"Long live the socialist revolution! Destiny has been written," Chavez shouted to thousands of flag-waving supporters wearing red shirts and braving a pouring rain.

"That new era has begun," he said, raising a hand in the air. "We have shown that Venezuela is red!... No one should fear socialism... Socialism is human. Socialism is love," Chavez said. "Down with imperialism! We need a new world!"

Since he first won office in 1998, Chavez has increasingly dominated all branches of government and his allies now control congress, state offices and the judiciary. He has called President Bush the devil, allied himself with Iran and influenced elections across the region.

Chavez also has used Venezuela's oil wealth to his political advantage. He has channeled oil profits toward multibillion-dollar programs for the poor including subsidized food, free university education and cash benefits for single mothers. He has also helped allies from Cuba to Bolivia with oil and petrodollars.

He now promises to solidify his social program.

Sounds to me that Chavez and Bush are more alike than different, except for that socialism thing. In the way they operate, they seem pretty similar. That story could be rewritten thusly...

"That new era has begun," Bush said, raising a hand in the air. "We have shown that the U.S. is made up of Red States! No one should fear Karl Rove... Karl Rove is human. Karl Rove is love," Bush said. "Down with Compassion! We need a new world!"

Since he first won office in 2000, Bush has increasingly dominated all branches of government and his allies now control congress, state offices and the judiciary. He has called John Kerry the devil, allied himself with gay Religious leaders that get massages and methamphetamine rubdowns, and influenced elections across the region.

Bush also has used U.S. and Iraqi oil wealth to his political advantage. He has channeled oil profits toward his political and financial supporters and immediate family. He has also helped allies from Texas to Washington D.C. with oil and petrodollars.

He now promises to solidify his secret surveillance program.

Dogs, your comaprisons of Chavez to American Democrats is tiresome and immature. Here's a challenge for you - why don't you confront Sen. Webb with these comments? I'd be interested to see a good Democrats' take on your - quite frankly *dumb* allusions.

Rotten prick how dare he help the poor? How dare he have a free college education program? How dare this man do this when he can act like our assholes and just hoard all this money. Why does every nation that has the black gold just want to piss on our thieving politicians?

1st Stevie did you learn a new word--I believe your last 11 posts have word neocon in it--I hate to burst your bubble but unlike liberal being tagged a four letter word--and most wanting to call themselves centrist to avoid association may I can shed some light-on neocon or conservative defininition--
You might see just how amusing it is for we neocons to be chastised for traditional values especially from someone from state of Mass where killer and child molestors get lifetime seats and is only state you have to ask which is husband and which is wife.:mj07:

From Wikipedia

Neoconservative: Definition and views
According to Irving Kristol, the founder and "god-father" of the Neoconservatism, there are three basic pillars of Neoconservatism:

1. Economics: Cutting tax rates in order to stimulate steady, wide-spread economic growth and acceptance of the necessity of risks in that growth, such as budget deficits
2. Domestic Affairs: Preferring strong government but not intrusive government, slight acceptance of the welfare state, adherence to social conservatism, and disapproval of counterculture
3. Foreign Policy: Patriotism is a necessity, world government is a terrible idea, the ability to distinguish friend from foe, protecting national interest both at home and abroad, and the necessity of a strong military

Per above definitions-- in response to your viewing myself as neocon I would agree- a very appropraite tag.Thank You!

No Dog man I did not learn a new word. I don't care about any dictionary definition of neocon. I am talking about the practice of it. The failed policies. Seems like you don't like me calling out the Neocons. Too bad because I am going to call you out at every stop. Except, unlike you, I will be calling out policies that are failures and that are still being championed by guys like you.
You used to like to attack me in the early days of your invasion of Iraq when I said that was wrong and destined to fail.
Now you want to call me out because I point out the failures and corruption of the neocons. Priceless!

Stevie how is it that these guys have been wrong every step of the way but still keep going with it? If Bush came out and said he did this for personal gain for a collect few of his buddies what would dog say? Would he high five him? I also love those definitions. Cutting taxes lol. There hasn't been a republican in my lifetime that knew how to balance a budget. They love to cut taxes but never know how to pay for them. Did you ever notice when they want to cut taxes its because a democrat finally balance the books that the neocons destroyed under thier rule?

You see here is what we are dealing with. This guy obviously voted for Bush and Cheney but he "wishes: he had a Neocon to vote for.

These guys are priceless. I like the way they are now setting a timetable to get out. And who do you think will champion the timetable? Non other than Weasel and Dogs and probably this guy.

What is really priceless is this memo that leaked out with Rumsfield calling for the same things the Dems wanted when they were labeled cut and runners. How despicable are these guys to use something like that (cut and run)when soldiers are dying left and right. These things leak out because people are sick of these cunning power hungry thieves. These low life scumbags who used and twisted a statements of Kerry's for political gain while these kids are dying over in the mess they created. They lied to get us there and use any thing they think that can help them no matter how true it is for political gain. All this death and destruction means nothing to these pigs as long as their bank statement keeps going up. The people who support this type of thing just make ya sick.

You left this part out, DTB. So, when exactly were you a liberal, Dogs? :mj07:

"The prefix neo- refers to two ways in which neoconservatism was new. First, many of the movement's founders, originally liberals, Democrats or from socialist backgrounds, were new to conservatism. Also, neoconservatism was a comparatively recent strain of conservative socio-political thought. It derived from a variety of intellectual roots in the decades following World War II, including literary criticism and the social sciences."

Regan? When did he run for office? Maybe he meant Reagan?

Reds-- would say back in my younger years I was anti anything that had to do with authority and probably resembled a cross between Manson and Stevie.
The most remarkable thing--I used to think my parents were stupidest people on planet prior to military--when I got out I was dumbfounded on how much they had learned in 2 years. ;)

Dogs--

I would say that anyone that didn't have a bit(or more for some of us) of a rebellious nature to them in their younger years just wasn't trying to be their own person hard enough...

And funny how smart my parents turned out to be once I graduated from college and I had to begin to make my own way in the adult world...:D
