I'll start this out with an update on Herb Larkins. He's doing great. Always appreciated of the gifts you "angels" gave him.Talked to him last sunday. He says not a day goes by where he isn't thankful of what you all did.Still doesn't know who we all are. Does know i organized it.I put some pictures up last yr showing his flat screen TV.What a powerful thing we did here.We all made someones life a little better.

My high school has had 5 students die in traffic accidents in the past two and half years. We had the three girls killed back in June.but before that accident, my favorite senior Marianna was killed going to work...and two months later Danny on the way to school. Hard to describe how all these accidents effected our HS.We raised money for all these families.had so many car washes, cake sales, concerts, idol nite, etc. But we forgot someone...his name is Micheal Madden. He's been in a coma for over two yrs.He would be a senior this year.Going to football practice he was a passenger in the front seat. It was raining and the boy driving went around a curve to fast.He hit a tree and the passenger side of the car was destroyed. Micheal had head injuries and was flown by helicopter to NYC.Mr. and Mrs. Madden called me from the hospital after a few days and said it was a very serious head injury. It's been over two yrs now and Micheal will probaly never come out of the coma. His parents took the resusitator off about a yr ago but Michael never needed it to breathe. The Maddens are religious and will not starve Micheal. He is in a nursing home about 30 miles from where the Maddens live. The Maddens have 4 other children,13,11,9,and 5.They are middle class family..{maybe a little below} and live in a small house near the Neversink River.
The past few years i have gone to see Micheal in the nursing home. His parents only allow very few friends because they feel Michael wouldn't want people to see him like this.
Two weeks ago our student council had "dancing with the stars" at my HS.We raised over $600 .All the proceeds would go to the Madden family.I drove over the house and gave Mrs. Madden the check. She broke down and cried. Then she took me in the kitchen and all 4 kids were at the table doing there homework. She introduced them to me and said she was honored to have me in the house. She had all 4 thank me even though they didn't know what for.
The Maddens are great people. The typical american family that has never asked for anything from the school or community.Kinda forgotten because of all the other deaths.
As I was leaving the house getting into my car..I thought..how nice it would be to give this family something they need. The Maddens have someone at Micheals side everyday. The grandparents go during the week and the Madden family during the weekend.
I thought how great it would be if these people suddenly in the mail started getting $5.00 bills from 38 states,6 countries and almost $3,000. Thats what Herb got.
None of these deaths or injuries were from drinking..all because of youth and inexperince.
So you have a few days to get your envelope, stamp and a $5.00 bill. I'll be back with the address and details.
Thank you Jack for letting me do this here.

Box,

I was going to ask if we were going to do the "Angel" thing again this year. A small thing like sending the money to Herb last year was a highlight of my holiday season.

Now get off you butt and get that address posted so this thing can get rolling!!!!

Merry Christmas, Box!

Lets start our engines or wings.
..But a few rules..Please get a white piece of paper and fold a $5.00 bill in it. You can say something like Merry Christmas...this is for the Madden family... for Micheals brothers and sisters. Don't say to much but end it with " something like we are "guardian angels". I don't want to tell people what to say. maybe keeping it short and simple. You can put your name on the note or envelope and your return address is fine. BUT...this is very important....my only RULE........No one is to know where we came from.We are all "Guardian Angels". The Maddens will not know it came from me. They cannot.. This is very important.Even if the Maddens went to the newspaper and a story came out.Someone might call you when they see your address..If some reporter or someone asks you via e-mail..phone...internet..etc..Your answer is "we are guardian angels". Some of you might write a check..its easy to follow that..which is fine. But again...we are guardian angels...
With Herb it was easy to monitor because I had Billy E helping Herb count the money and mail.I do know Mrs Madden sister very well but have to be careful asking her. It will be hard to do updates.Thats the one thing I haven't figured out yet. Do know someone in the post office there. But I'll work on something. But again...no one must know I'm behind this...Please... the address is

Michael Madden
55 Manor Lane
Westbrookville,New York
12785
{Jeffrey and Renee are his parents name}

I think everyone here trusts me. I hope anyway. I'll paste an article from a story about me and my school.I'll edit out the names but leave Micheals there.I don't think I need it but there might be a few people that are new here or not sure. I'll post it later..
Guardian Angels....you earned your wing with Herb. It times to earn your other wing. and if you didn't get a wing with Herb thats fine...you can start with Michael. We are all crazy in what we do here. It's hard to explain to normal people that some of us want the Johnnies to win by 7 or more pts vs Niagara or the Giants to win by 3 over the Panthers..We all need "help" is some way, shape or form..but the Maddens will get some help...and these small gifts will make a family maybe smile and little more...in this christmas season..

Above the Clouds....
Mine will be in the mail this week. It will be more than $5. Shouldn't we have a return address if cash is sent? I know the rules so I'm not telling wife in case someone contacts. Glad to help with these things.

this is an artice that mentions Michael

..... talks tough to young drivers
Community hopes to prevent more car crashes
By Jessica

Times Herald-Record

.......... ? Marianna.........was 18 when she died.
Danny .......s and Michael Madden, both 17, are comatose.
They were all ...... High School students. In a little more than a year, they were all brought low by car crashes.
Now a community struggles to shake off the frustration and anger that comes from knowing three of their own have suffered.
"I know it can happen anywhere," said Rachel , a 17-year-old senior. "But when it happens in your own school, it really makes you think."
Marianna, who graduated in June, was supposed to start college the day after her crash in August. Michael was injured a year ago on his way home from football practice, when the car he was riding in crashed in Deerpark.
Then there was Danny's crash. He was on his way to school in his 14-year-old Honda Accord last month on Route 42 when he drove off the pavement and into a utility pole.
Police said a witness saw him lean to the right just before the crash. His eyes might have left the road for only a few seconds.
It was too long.
School Principal ...... thought that one death and two injuries might be enough to wake students up.
Then he spotted kids driving recklessly on school grounds just days after Danny was hurt.
"You have one of your classmates in critical condition, and it didn't seem to matter much," .... said.
So he took his frustration to the senior class. For 20 minutes in the cafeteria he yelled at them, cried with them and asked for more accountability.
"It was a heavy-duty message I was sending," .... said. "These kids will remember the message for a couple of weeks, but in a month, they'll forget."
And so the fight begins to educate more, to caution more, to restrict more.
Anything that will keep the student body alive.
The high school's Students Against Destructive Decisions group is coming up with ideas to shed light on the problem.
First up: a contract students and their parents will have to sign in order to park on school grounds.
Another SADD suggestion is to hold a student responsible if he or she is caught in the vehicle of another student who is driving irresponsibly on school grounds.
Marianna and Danny weren't speeding or driving drunk. They were just being teens. That means slower reaction times, fewer defensive driving skills and shorter attention spans.
Experts say teens are more likely to speed, run red lights and make illegal turns.
"They think they're indestructible," .... said. "That's why insurance companies charge them a higher rate."
Deerpark cops have a new tough-love approach in the form of a zero-tolerance policy for aggressive drivers between the ages of 16 and 21.
Gone are the days of asking the court to drop a speeding ticket down to a seat belt infraction. These days, teens driving a car in an unsafe manner will face the full weight of the charge in Deerpark Town Court.
"Nothing is getting the attention of these kids," said Deerpark police Sgt. Liz .... "Maybe we can wake them up."
