In one of my last threads I stated that I started a system and a general question was asked.

"if people with " systems", "new or old" would care to explain them to the forum? We can all share are thoughts on them....maybe help one another make money? Is that not our gambling goal?"

First off I would like to say I'm done with my system, but I respect everyone that has one. It is not that I think mine won't work, but I just don't have time for all the data entry and adjustments. Do you realize how many college teams and games there are. I tried and realized I just can't keep up. Personally I'm going back to capping just the games that pop out at me and leaving the rest to everybody else.

As to what my system was or what any system is that's for the individual to tell you. In my case and probably in most others' case it consists of a spreadsheet with tons of data entry and equations dealing with various game and team statistics that are all put together to give you what the predicted outcome of a game may be. I don't know if I can explain it any better than that. I guess everyone doing this could list the parameters they are using to come up the predicted outcome of the games, but to me that would be too much trouble. To keep up with a system like this you would have to have a quick way to do data entry and be able to have your program highlight the games that you would consider plays otherwise you have to look at each one individually. All this takes a ton of time and energy that I don't have. There must be more than 50 games on a weekend.

With all that said I appreciate the guys that can do this even more since I tried. 90% of the work involved is just getting the data together to work with. Trying to determine what you do with it once you have it is where the real art lies. I commend a guy like Billy B. who has worked so hard on this over the years and anyone that bashes him for what he is doing is just plain wrong.

GL to all.

agree with you on the time and commitment it takes to run a system...i just calculate my plays mon-fri...it would take way too long to do all the weekend games on the system i use

Well said, Sam

Well said, Sam

I will be the first to admit there are times I can not" pick my own nose".

The volumes of data to look for a play out of many is overwhelming to all but a very dedicated select few.
Over a season,.no one hits 90% 80% 70%....period. (Except for some 1-900 call a tout who lies)

Strict money management and pick your select situational spots are the smart way to go.

Everyone has a hot streak as well as a cold streak.

If you can tag along with a hot capper before he comes back to earth, it is a definite bonus.

Anyone who gives away a proven "nugget" of handicapping info is foolish. The info is far too difficult to gather and far too valuable too be merely shared in a public forum. Members in a public forum are one thing, lurkers are quite another.

There are also"secret" handicapping clubs whose members lurk....simply waiting to see what you know. In turn, you are denied the benefit of knowing what they know.

Those like Loophole who not only provide a in-depth analysis of their reason and logic, but also have a documented, consistent winning record to support their assertions are rare. They are to be valued and greatly appreciated.

Same with any other Madjack member who posts plays on a regular basis and has a winning record to boot.

I like the Monday to Friday idea except if you truely want to test your system then every game needs the opportunity to be a play. That's why I think there are very few computer type systems that are actually being used. Everyone here has some sort of method to how they are making picks. It may be tailing someone or flipping a coin, but I doubt if there are very many systems that give every game an opportunity to be a pick or play.

Fwiw...

Some time ago, I read where Jimmy Vaccaro said that Vegas is very good at neutralizing "systems".

Personally (and I've been around a while), I don't think there is a neat and tidy way to handicap an entire card.

Face it....Vegas has what we want and they don't want us to take it. They certainly have enough resources to protect, defend and defeat.

I feel it's all about the "long haul". Too many want immediate success right now and want success every single day which is impossible. Systems do work well, but you have to be able to take your lumps because they will come with any system, but the overall % of winners in the "long haul" is what counts..right?? If you play a system that hits 55%-60% over the long run I'd say you have a nice system, but you can't get discouraged over the bad streaks.......

my 2 cents.

There are no money making "systems" in picking stocks, and there are no money making systems in picking games. Systems can produce nice results for a particular statistical slice, but over time they all have to lose to the juice. If there were, the genie would escape the bottle and there would be no more market, no more gambling. Pure science cannot win over instinct, art, chaos (or random) forces of the market. Just my input, that being said, thanks to the quality cappers here who bring it all together and post the good picks. It is very much appreciated. Happy hoidays...Christmas, Quanza, and Hanukkah...just not Ramadan this year.
