As an avid follower of SEC football, I think the line is riduclous. Take a look at who Alabama played and competed with. This will be the second best defense that Ok State will have seen all year next to Oklahoma. The Alabama offense is good and moved the ball all year against top notch defenses. They certainly shouldn't have many problems moving the ball against a suspect (to say the least) Oklahoma State defense.

You may be right but I think OSU will have a tougher time with the tide defense than you think. Bama Is won of the better Defenses they have seen this year and only managed to put up 10 against texas ans I think 20 or 21 against oklahoma and texas tech. Ala averages giving up 18 a game. Regardless my point would be that while they have put up some big numbers they have done so against far inferior defenses. Another thing that is fishy is the line is dropping yet 70% of people are l playing osu according to carib. GL with your play just some food for thought

And I had Alabama in that game as well. Basically the same situation this year, except I think the Alabama offense is actually better this year than last.

What's up Dawg? You boys gonna get it done against VT? Can't make a decision on the side in that game but like the under as both defenses appear solid and offenses sputter a bit. Also, would you mind showing me where you get the consensus public bets? I think that would be helpful! Good luck!

I'm a HUGH Sec fan and believer that they are the toughest conf. But you have to llok at Ala. wins this year. 6-6. Wins against teams like Fla. Int. 38-3, Miss 26-23, Duke 30- 14, UL Monroe 41-7, Vandy 13-10, and Hawaii @ home 25-17( there only bowl team win). Okla St. should come away with win here. Perdiction. Okla St. 34-20. Good Luck All.

I'm also a big SEC fan, but not a Bama fan. Big Auburn fan here. I'm going to pull for them anyway in this one, but I really don't think they will win.

If you play Alabama in this be cautious. I really don't think this game means anything to them or their temporary coach. In the paper I read their players have been seen out gambling and drinking in the casinos and when the coach was asked about it he just kind of smiled. While on the other side the Oklahoma State coach has strickly prohibited his players from going to the casinos saying basically that the bowl game is a good time for team bonding.

There's no way I'm betting on Alabama in this one.

But to those who are Good Luck.

War Eagle Sam Bone. I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of Bama's motivation. I'm not saying that they are going to win, but I think they come to play today. Bama always plays with a lot of heart (most of the time not that well, but with heart).

I'm not sure how they will perform, but they won't lie down for anybody. Getting Shula out of there was the best thing to happen to that offense. My dog could call a better game. Whoever is going to call the plays has to do a better job. Defensively, they have played well all year (refer to Mister Cover's post).

I think Bama plays with reckless abandon today. They really don't have anything to lose. Most times they played this year, the pressure to win was almost palpable. They were far more motivated by the fear of losing than their desire to win. This results in fearing of making a mistake versus trying to make a play. I don't sense any pressure today.

Bama always does well in the underdog role. For one day only... GO BAMA.

Hilliard you are right about Shula. As an Auburn fan I sure am going to miss him. I said that they had nothing to play for and you say they have nothing to lose. This thing could go either way. I like your assessment that they will finally be laid back and have a great game.

I will be staying away from this one, but I'll be rooting for the SEC.

GL to all.

I completely agree with all of your points. There may be a ton of reasons to believe that UA loses this one but lack of intensity, for the first time this year, is not going to be one of them. Several players on offense have commented that after Coach Kines took over, it was the first time that they have been yelled at (and in a good way). All world frosh OL Andre Smith was quoted as saying that Coach Kines was one of those men who could get you fired up enough to run through a brick wall.

The quote I read about gambling was Kines saying he was going to put a big cardboard box outside of the casinos for the gambling players to throw money into. He said if they want to throw away their money, at least they can put it in the box and then split it among the rest of the team.

These guys have nothing to hold back and are no longer restrained by Shula. Plan probably is going to be to focus on short passing game and running game and try to control the clock and keep OK St. off the field.

IF this one covers, I'll take my winnings and put it on the back of the Orange and Blue tigers. Thinking that there's no way Tubberville allows a repeat of last year's debacle. Might even have to quietly let out a "War Eagle" or two!!

For what it's worth...

I read that the Alabama players love coach Kines. They want him to be the head coach next year and they will play their asses off for him today because of that...

The Alabama Crimson Tide continue their hunt for a big-name coach to lead their program and it?s not helping their image with bettors.

Alabama sits as a 2-point underdog for their Independence Bowl battle against the 6-6 Oklahoma State Cowboys, the same spread Bama bettors have seen for the bulk of December.

Each time the university tries to woo a Rich Rodriguez or Nick Saban to replace fired head coach Mike Shula, the Alabama coaching situation looks more and more like a mess. The opposite may, in fact, be true.

?Everyone?s focusing on this coaching thing, but I think they?ll play hard for [popular interim head coach] Joe Kines to give him a shot at the job,? says Sportsmemo.com?s Jared Klein.

?It?s been so long since Shula?s been fired that there?s no shock factor and they?ve had regular practices in recent weeks. I don?t see the coaching situation as a negative and I really like Alabama as an underdog.?

The Cowboys? option offense undoubtedly concerns hesitant Alabama backers.

?I don`t really remember seeing [this much option] since I`ve been here,? linebacker Juwan Simpson told the Huntsville Times. ?Florida ran a little option last year. But I really haven`t seen it.?

A mobile quarterback is always the key to running a successful option and Oklahoma State?s Bobby Reid played the role nicely this season with 466 rushing yards to compliment his 23 passing touchdowns. The Cowboys feature three running backs, each of whom piled up at least 500 rushing yards as the team racked up more than 200 yards per game on the ground.

The Crimson Tide may not have faced the option in the SEC this year but they possess some crucial ingredients to stopping the quirky system.

?It would concern me except Alabama has so much speed on defense,? says Klein. ?And with Kines being the defensive coordinator, he?ll be able to scheme to stop an option.?

It?s the potential mismatch when the Tide has the ball that makes Klein look to the underdog in Thursday night?s game in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Red zone troubles aside, Alabama rarely struggled to move the ball this season, especially through the air. John Parker Wilson topped 200 passing yards nine times in his first year as the Tide?s starting quarterback and should find the Cowboys? pass defense to his liking.

Oklahoma State played seven teams this year that eventually made it to bowl games and allowed them an average of 243 passing yards per game. The bowl-bound opponents had 14 touchdowns through the air while the Cowboys picked them off only once.

?Oklahoma State didn?t play the country?s worst schedule but they beat three weak teams early and then struggled to finish .500 in what wasn?t a great Big 12,? Klein says.

?When they played good teams the passing numbers tended to be ugly and it should be no different with weapons like D.J. Hall to pass to and a decent running game to keep them honest.?

Oklahoma State was 3-2 against the spread (ATS) as a favorite this year, but all three ATS wins came against significantly weaker teams. The Cowboys were favored against a pair of bowl-bound teams and dropped both games straight-up (SU). They were 2-5 ATS against all opponents who ended up with a bowl berth.

The Tide played six bowl-bound opponents and while their 1-5 SU record against them was enough to get Shula canned, the team`s backers should have been pleased with 4-2 ATS record. Alabama went 4-1 ATS in its five games as a dog.

Books have set a total of 51 for Thursday afternoon?s game, which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. ET from Independence Stadium.

Thought the same thing when Alabama played Texas Tech last year. (13-10)...was proved wrong.

Alabama dominated that game from a yardage standpoint...put up 420 yards to total offense...they just couldnt get it into the redzone. They held tech to 329 total yards...

MC If you go to carib homepage and scroll to the top there is a link that says player picks. As far as the UGA game I will probably play Georgia ML for various reasons but not going to highjack the thread GL.

Alabama led the SEC in getting to the Red Zone this season and finished in the bottom 10 in the country in Red Zone conversion. It will be very interesting to see Rader's {OC} play calling now that they do not have to go thru Shula.

Best decision for the Tide in losing him, his first year the Tide led 11 of 13 games at the half and finished 4-9. The next year we are 6-6 and only scored 37 points in the second half. The man was never a head coach and does not have a clue how to make in game adjustments! Now, WHO are we going to get as coach?

That paragraph just made me put an extra unit on Alabama, strictly due to Shula being a stone bum coach.

Think he would have got the job if his last name wasn't Shula?:142smilie
