Falcons fire Mora after another disappointing season
Falcons fire Mora after another disappointing season

By GEORGE HENRY, Associated Press Writer
January 1, 2007

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- Atlanta fired coach Jim Mora on Monday, just two years after he led the Falcons to the NFC championship game.

The decision to dump the fiery coach followed two straight disappointing seasons. The Falcons lost six of their final eight games in 2005 to miss the playoffs, and they finished 7-9 this season by losing seven of the last nine contests.

Owner Arthur Blank made the announcement at the team's suburban training complex.

Clarke to me its the single most important thing in sports. Talent evaluation. It is also the most over looked thing in sports. You see this coach on Louiville. all this talk about pro teams wanting him? I watched him five times now and i think if he went pros he would be sent packing after year two. His team is loaded but he always seems to run a set of downs at least five times a game where he just gives the ball right back. Tonight he got lucky twice running for a 3rd and nine. You can do that against shit hole teams like wake forrest but in the pros this will never work. Against Rutgers he got flat out coached. His team is ten times better than rutgers. Him and the other nitwit from LSU have powerhouse teams but bad coaching can neutralize them. Its kinda like why i love Ndame tomorrow and if it wasn't for the possible Katrina flags i would take them straight up.
