Here's my favorite quote from the festivities today:

Across the Capitol, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky took over as leader of minority Republicans, and said it was time to put an end to "a culture of partisanship over principle."

Funny...a half day of democratic leadership and McConnell thinks it's time to put an end to partisanship...

How about for the past few years, Mitchie? Partisanship seemed to work pretty well then, eh?

:142smilie

Chad i heard the same thing. How do you respond to someone like that without wanting to choke him?

Well, that's certainly an unbiased website.

OK, so the title of the very anti-Pelosi article said 'The Most Powerful Woman in America', but nowhere in the actual article or in any others that I've seen did she actually say something like that.

So - not only did you get the non-existing quote from her wrong by saying "World" instead of "America", but the non-existing quote itself doesn't even exist anyway.

Nice job, Freeze. Anything else you'd like to fabricate while your here?

OK, sort of nevermind - the Washington Times claims she called herself "the most powerful woman in America". I retract my bashing of your credibility, Freeze. But there was nothing about 'world'.

Still, pretty ridiculous thing for her to say. It not only makes her sound arrogant, but also kinda stupid. Everyone knows Opra Winfrey is the most powerful woman in America.

from the Washington Times:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20070104-120948-2278r.htm

A new Congress convenes today with a narrow Democratic majority lording over a despondent Republican minority.
While the full weight of Republicans' powerlessness sinks in after 12 years of control, Democrats are celebrating the historic election today of the first female speaker of the House.
"We have waited over 200 years for this time to come," Mrs. Pelosi said on the eve of her selection as speaker, a position that makes her second in line to the presidency after Vice President Dick Cheney.
"We will not just break through a glass ceiling, we will break through a marble ceiling," she said. "In more than 200 years of history, there was an established pecking order -- and I cut in line."
After calling herself "the most powerful woman in America," Mrs. Pelosi flexed her right muscle like a weight lifter to much applause at an event yesterday titled a "women's tea."
"All right, let's hear it for the power," she screamed as the jubilant applause continued.

the media now is not impartial.....they have taken sides & do not report the news that hurts their side....it's unfortunate but that's the way it is.

i just watched the evening news and they ALL reported on her talking about "breaking through the marble ceiling"

NOT ONE showed her yelling "Let's hear it for the power!" immediately thereafter

Much less having a panel of "impartial commentators" criticizing this statement and speaking of how unprofessional, arrogant, and disrespectful to every American man AND woman out there

Yes, I believe that's true. If Cheney said he was "the most powerful woman in the world" it would be big big news.

Well, is Fox talking about this? If they aren't then I guess it's not actually a big deal. Is there any footage or just the news print?

Because its a harmless statement she probably said as a joke?, Because it is peanuts compared to starting wars to profit a certain few? You neocons are priceless. No matter what kind of shit your leader pulls something like this seems to alwatys bother you. How well they brainwash you. They scape and scrape to come up with something. They did it to Kerry with lies but you are to naive to realize it and now you take a two cent statement and try to run with it like someone got harmed. You should put some of this misguided energy into some real problems. Since you are trying to become a doctor how about we start on the bill Bush signed to benefit the pharmaceuticals and screw the people.

Uh no - this is exactly the sort of thing Fox would eat up and broadcast all day. O'Reilly, Hannity, Hume and co. would be all over that statement.

LMAO John Kerry is one of the biggest POS ever to enter politics and makes any and everyone in the armed forces look bad. He is a disgrace to the uniform and any jackass that gets up there and describes to us what he did in that pompous arrogant fashion after coming back from 'Nam and saying things that people were taking torture over there not too say is a real piece of work.

Not sure what any of that or how your idiotic post applies to this thread but dude you are way out in left field.

Well, lets see if O'Reilly and Hannity say anything tonight. Unfortunatley, that is the only place where you get any criticism of a democrat these days.
