Nah, you're not a square. Smoking is like any addiction, betting included...it doesn't come down to square and sharps. If it were a mental thing you'd already be done with it. Unfortunately, it's chemical but you can always retrain your body. It's never too late, 50 is better than 51, all it takes is this turnaround and you won't look back.

Nothing in life worth doing is easy. You may have relapses, that's expected and is the norm. All you need to do is get back up, dust off, and get on living.

Good luck IE and if it doesn't work try hypnotism. it worked for my mother. Maybe doochuk can give you some inspiration. He just quit and hopefully is still doing a good job of staying smoke free. Its such a tough habit to quit but people do it.

IE.

Stay strong, probably the hardest thing you will do in your life. I quit years ago and I won't go into the "Here's how you should do it speech" as everyone is different.
I quit cold turkey and haven't looked back. But one thing I have heard that works from people who have taken it is zyban. Yes it is a drug and it messes you up for a few weeks, but anyone who has taken it has been smoke free.

My father in law smoked since he was 10 years old back in Italy. Worked in the steel mills and is the toughest SOB I have meet. But he couldn't drop smokes. He took zyban and boom, hasn't smoked in 4 years. Says he never will. So as a last resort talk to your good Doctor about it!

Good luck

On about 148 days myself, IE. Think I'm going to want a cig until I'm dead, but I just didn't like my "peer group" smoking outside the offices anymore.

Good Luck, man. Just tell everyone you've quit so they don't give you one and don't go near a convenience store for a month. Piece of cake :)

GL IE!

Make yourself proud.

I tried to stop swearing for the New Year. You can see how long that lasted. Especially when my gf talks like a Nascar fan half the time.

Pretty soon you'll be posting in the hockey forum:mj07:

Good Luck IE,
Best damn thing I've accomplished in many years.
I went cold turkey as you may know and had much support here at Madjacks. I do not even think about it anymore.
I cant tell you how much better you will feel as time passes...no coughs, throat clearing, etc.
Stay strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Doochuk!
