"the bunker"
excellent post,kosar....nicely said....

i think it`s a wise strategy for democrats....
and frankly,i`m not quite sure why the "clear and hold" strategy wasn`t adopted 3/4 years ago.....and it`s being reported that "rules of engagement are being relaxed"...thank god...

the real key isn't just the number of troops, but the r.o.e.....change the r.o.e. to let our forces go after the jihadis and insurgents without worrying about the legalities or supposed sensitivities if we have to go into mosques or other areas, and the jihadis and insurgents will have no where left to hide.....

on the negative side,my issue is that this strategy...along with all our
other startegies..is broadcast to the enemy well in advance of being implemented....along with deadlines......and will assuredly result in a blood bath...at least early on...i hope everyone understands this...and doesn`t quit based on some early set backs...we`ve come to far...

if this is the last straw...the last big shot, they need to take out al-sadr....do it swiftly and without warning(even though that`s probably impossible with our media).......

if this thing goes south,at least ONE of the main instigators(at least within the country) will have been dealt with....

if it works,it will be be, not just a good thing for this country and the middle east...it will be a great thing....and you certainly won`t hear any "i told you so`s" from me...

if it fails, this, along with being the president that gave texas back to mexico will be his legacy......

unchecked illegal immigration and "anchor babies" will give mexicans a majority in texas in two or three generations and once that happens,it wouldn`t shock me if it attempts to secede from the union......lol......seriously.....

back to iraq...i understand that your argument comes strictly from a democratic political perspective and not from any patriotic motive....

still,to give this endeavor, one last effort, after all that`s come before, just makes common sense....

i understand that our enemies in raq will make every effort to ensure that our television screens are filled with images of death and suffering....along with our own msm and some democrats.....to ensure that they take the white house in 2008....

but, withholding funding for the "surge" will do nothing more than reinforce in many americans minds that the democrats are soft..and give republicans a club with which to hammer them with...and a way to shift some blame leftward...... ..a bad move,imo....

maybe your best post ever.....and you`re going to the ravens/colts game saturday?.....

a banner week,my man...have fun...

Okay, I admit it. I am dizzy after reading GW's last post. Somehow he tries to make a link that it is the Dem's fault, even though Bush got everything he wanted for years under the Republican Congress.

Talk about not being Patriotic. This guy doesn't Pledge Alligence to his country he Pledges Alligence to Bush and the Neocons.

no,i didn`t say it was the dem`s fault...i said that it would give the rethuglicans some leverage if the congress withholds funding.....

i heard "the turban`s" response....nothing new there...throw the iraqis under the bus to join the other third world mass slaughters they`ve brought about in south vietnam, cambodia, and somalia.......

the media should force the dems to offer an alternative plan for victory (if anything) as opposed to more negativity and defeatism...

or at least a plan to circumvent the certain mass slaughter of all iraqi leaders that have put their own asses on the line to try and see this thing through post-saddam....

not just "redeploy" and tough luck,guys...

don`t hold your breath...

we can`t continue to be unreliable allies....to be shown to be weak and without resolve....

The Dems have offered many plans. Just because you don't l;ike them doesn't mean they didn't offer any. I would still like to know the Neocon plan for victory in Iraq? Even Bush can't define it.

Here is the problem with you GW, you want to hold those without power to the fire while giving those in power a free ride.

what plan?......"redeploy" is a plan?.....pull back?.......to where?...

what`s the litmus test?....how much carnage and chaos does it take before we go back in?....

do you have any idea the logistics involved?....

who will guard those oil fields?

i saw what looked like tom vilsack speaking last night......i just surmised that it was senator durbin with a vilsack dummy on his knee.....same talking point, over and over. ...no plan... MUTE!

lets not be politically correct or have the mentality of a bunch of 60`s hippies....

face it...we`re up against it......most of the world`s oil providers are either despots, committed socialists or religious fanatics.....western economies depend on oil...

.if iraq falls into iran's hands or if iraq oil falls into al quaeda's hands, we may not be able to purchase it....or at the very least we`ll be blackmailed...

these are not business men.... if iraq unifies with iran...and iran gets a nuclear weapon.... then they invade kuwait or saudi arabia, from whom are we going to get oil? .....

canada,i guess....russia has oil. ..i don't trust putin....and he`s already supplying europe...

maybe then we`ll finally drill in alaska and along our coasts....but,how long will that take?.....and how long will it last?

final push...hardcore r.o.e.......use the iraqi`s if that`s what it takes.... monitor the borders between iran and syria...

imo,we should send several(2) nuclear submarines to the persian gulf...give ahmadinnerjacket something to think about....

So folks still want a Dem plan. Why? Bush goes by the voices in his head. He wants no plan. Just like the one he's been using last 4 years. Soon or later he may need there's to pull his butt out of this lost cause.
