It's all 'cause of the Fuqking POKER crap.

I hate that game.

you are exactly right--poker brought this all to the forefront..If poker does not explode and become so popular the last 3 years or so,we would not be talking about this right now.Everytime i see a commercial or advertisement about poker i would think this is not good

But I think it is all over. No more online books soon, no way to fund them, and not worth the trouble.

I have been gambling online for 10 years now and never had a local. I have friends that go through a bookie, but they dont have the options or ease that I have had by betting online........

Nice ****ing country.....and nice ****ing president.

If what the fuking republicans want is for a guy like me to become a bookie myself, then they may get their wish.....I had thought about booking action for awhile now, and this may push me enough to give it a go.

When will our government get it? This is the same as freakin weed or whatever......people are gonna gamble and people are gonna smoke pot. Just ****ing tax the shit........just dont tell me what I can do with my money. I gamble.........I dont hurt anyone, and I pay my ****ing bills. I dont smoke weed, but I have known people who do.......they arent bad dudes........and they dont hurt anyone........**** the government.......this is bullshit.

Pretty soon this site will probably be bust, or at least pointless.....I hope not, but probably true

totally agree. couldn't put it better. i booked 6 yrs ago....really thinking to do again.

aha--Nosigar--a prudent observation.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I get amused at those with the political innuendos and their pics --but truth of matter is --if they haven't found ways around this by now they are prob not smart enough to be betting--if you'd spend as much time trying to find solution as you do searching websites for nazi photos you be much better off.

There are numerous ways to beat this--had you done a little preventative planning--it would be business as usual.

well, I am happy I will be in vegas and able to make my one big bet that I make each year for the superbowl. I am pretty pissed, because I bet the most during the NFL season and March Madness

Again......It shouldn't be a question of that. The question has always been, "Why the hell can't I do it?"

We all know that books are still open, and you can still fund them. The issue is.......some books are no longer accepting our action, and we can't just slide the money in and out like we used to.

"the bunker"
maybe they`ll figure out some way to tax this shit.......

if they can get a piece of the action,i would think it all goes away....

i`m surprised that some of these offshores haven`t tried to negotiate some sort of agreement with the gub`ment.....rather than just be shut out of the huge american market....

it`s all about money.....has to be...

what bugs me is that nobody gives a shit about the billions that illegals are siphoning out of the economy and sending down to mexico......but,the lost tax revenue and funds through off-shore gambing is a big issue?...

a tad hypocritical,i`d say...

maybe some politicos are afraid that some of this money is being used for nefarious purposes(funding terrorism etc)....

otherwise,i don`t see the huge political benefit of championing this issue......people that don`t gamble online(the large majority) could give a big rat`s ass,i`d think.....

unless there`s an enormous underground local bookmaker`s lobby i`ve been unaware of...

if they`re worried about american dollars leaving the country, build that fence and shut down that border.....you keep money in the country, put a dent in the drug trade, unburden many strapped border states, bolster security and restore some of our sovereignty....

a much bigger issue than internet gambling....

so what if some fat cats don`t get their houses cleaned and lawns manicured...so what if some contractors have to pay americans a decent wage to do certain jobs....

we certainly won`t need illegals to pick citrus fruit in california for a few years....

I agree with you GW, there's not much gained by the gov't doing this(from a political standpoint). Most people could give a crap about gambling on sports and people that are doing it.

I think most people are missing the point, or I only heard it mentioned once. The government didn't ban online gambling, they banned online gambling they didn't have a piece of.

You can still bet the ponies online - if you live in the right state.
State lotteries are available online.
Keno is available online in some states.
And of course the government says its ok to still:
Go to slot parlors in some states that dont have casino gambling.
Legal casino gambling at casinos or Indian casinos.
Multiistate lottery tickets
Scratch tickets

Then we have:

Online poker
Online sports betting

What do these have in common? The feds and local governments have their meathooks in the first group - taking payola in the form of tax incentives, tax base or straight pay in the form of percentage. Huh, what a coincidence that these forms of online gaming are completely legal.

The other group, the government doesnt get sh1t from. What a shock that these are now not legal.

State lotteries are the biggest player ripoff in the book. So, you tell me. Is the government protecting us from ourselves, from the evils of gambling, protecting America's families as they say. Or are they just stuck their with their dicks in their hand because they cant get a piece of the online action.

The people that think this is George Bush thing or a Republican thing are out to lunch. This is a government thing. If a Democrat had been in office and the Online Gaming Act came through as a rider on the Safe Ports Act - like it did - you can guarantee it passes just like it did now. No one was voting against it once that happened.

So if you want to blame someone blame the bill sponsors.

The hypocrisy of this is what sickens me. If they banned all online gambling, or all gambling, then it sucks, but at least it doesnt reek of the bullsh1t hypocrisy this town is painted in - on both sides of the aisle.
