Buffalo +15....

They lost by 16 to Ohio but were competitive the whole game and gave it away in the end. Up by 9 at one point. This is wayyyyyy too many points.

I predicted this early in the week. Ohio will beat UB by double digits and then the line on the Akron game will be out of whack. I was lucky to get the Ohio cover but was happy to have it because I knew this line would be where it was. 15 points in the MAC against a talented team? I've never done this but this is my game of the ____. My highest rated game I've ever posted here. Good luck

akron just effin steamrolls teams at home. i was at the akron/ub game last year at the jar and buffalo just looked lost. and that was with cage. i want to believe that buffalo can hang this number but its just a dicey proposition. the one thing working in buffalo's favor is that akron is coming off a come-from-behind win over their biggest rival. buffalo is too turnover-prone for my liking. i know where youre coming from in terms of a talented team getting DD. but akron is not the kind of place to be turning the ball over the way UB does. the zips will bury them if the bulls have 15+ turnovers.

I agree gman, the turnover problems for UB are what worries me. I just feel like this line is where it is because UB lost by 16 to Ohio. The 16 pt loss might as well have been 2 because Buffalo was in the game the whole time and just lost it in the last 4-5 minutes. I feel like Akron looks at the score of UB's game against Ohio and doesn't take them seriously. I think 15 points is just too many. Akron will most likely win this game, but by more then 15? I don't think so :nono:

I thought the line was a couple of points high myself as I capped it at 12'. The history of the series though seems to suggest that the line is close as both teams notch double digit wins at home nearly every season with the exception of 3 years ago when the Bull came in and stole one here when Akrons point guard Hollingsworth was suspended and the Zips season fell apart fast. That Buffalo team was a damn good one led by Battle, Cage and crew, and that Bull backcourt could match up well with the Zips guards, but see a very large advantage to Akron guards today.

All week Dambrot has been preaching about the pitfalls of a letdown here, so I suspect the Zips will be ready, and toss a little defensive pressure with some trapping at the Bulls guards early to get the guys into the game. Also expecting Ced. Middleton(the good Middleton, not Rod. LOL) to get the start for Dials, which definitely would make the Zips more athletic from the opening gun, but that is just speculation on my part.

One thing that strikes me though is that the Akron Zips sometimes are a bit sluggish on the offensive end in the first half before turning it on big time in the 2nd half so if you think that the Bulls can indeed take care of the ball today, (which I'm not convinced of) a first half play may be even more attractive than the entire game.

No play for me, I'll just go and enjoy it.

UB only down 2 at the half and their best player (Ibidhi) has been on the bench the whole half with 2 fouls. This Moore kid can really shoot the ball. I think he has 15 pts at the half.

Good call Pharoah, The game was beyond ugly from a spectators point of view. Mike Sanzere, Randy Drury, and Steven Skiles were the true stars of the day as the trio managed to blow a whistle at every opportunity in a game that featured no flow at all ,but if you like 50 fouls and 50 + free throws the Jar was the place to be.

Moore does have a nice stroke and somewhat surprised the Zips in the first half, however Dambrot kept a guy in his face constantly in the 2nd half and he did not score again.

Yeah I was listening to the game. It sounded like the game was called tight. That one sequence with the technical on Witherspoon really hurt UB's chances at an outright victory. IMO it was never really in doubt that Akron would pull it out. If you pick up the pressure against UB they will turn it over. I just thought 15 points was too many.

Eric Moore is a really good shooter. I think he had something like 11-12 3s this year against Bowling Green, but like you said he can't really create his own shot. Put a guy in his face and you solve that problem. The team really needs a true PG to help create shots for players and cut down on turnovers.

A couple of my friends made the trip, did you see any blue in the crowd? How did Boudreaux look? I was surprised he got the start, but I guess he's been doing well in practice.

This was a very good call! You put a few extra coins in my pocket as I didn't have an opinion prior.........thanks and good call! I always take an extra look at cappers here who state what their highest rated plays were. Didn't watch the game, just saw the final score and it brought a smile to my face! Its nice to have someone in here that knows tha MAC as it is a conference that I have been unable to figure out the season! I look for Spangs totals too.
Thanks!:SIB

yeah there were a couple of guys in our section from Buffalo, they snagged some really good seats, but I did not get a chance to talk to them. Boudreaux was pretty quiet out there, grabbed a few boards though.

The Bulls were more physical than I expected and they are a good defensive team which should keep them in most every game in this league, but like you said they could use a good point to run the show. They looked a little lost while trying to run their stuff on moe than one occasion.

Have a good one, may see you in Buffalo or at the Q down the road. Buffalo will be a lower seed that none of the big boys will look forward to playing in the tourney. Your young guys will do nothing but improve.
