"the bunker"
""Sources tell ABC News that the plot may have involved moving between 10 and 20 suspects believed to be affiliated with al Qaeda in Iraq into the United States with student visas — the same method used by the 19 al Qaeda terrorists who struck American targets on Sept. 11.

U.S. officials now require universities to closely track foreign nationals who use student visas to study in the United States. University officials must report international students who fail to arrive on campus or miss class regularly.

In August, the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement alerted intelligence agencies and state and local law enforcement about 11 Egyptian students who had failed to report to their classes at Montana State University. The students were ultimately apprehended.

Still, despite the heightened precautions, some security analysts fear that skilled terrorists — handpicked because of their clean records and because they are carefully trained — could still slip through an academic setting.

The plot was discovered six months ago, roughly the same time that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, was killed by coalition forces. Sources tell ABC News that the suspects involved in the effort to launch the U.S. attack were closely associated with Zarqawi.""

laughable.......""skilled terrorists ... could still slip through an academic setting."""

slip through an academic setting?!

how about be embraced into many an academic setting!....lets grab `em before they get tenure.....otherwise they'll commit terrorist acts, still stay on staff and get full pensions......

.lol

think about it....why need student visas?...can't 10 or 15 al qaeda agents fly into mexico city, take the bus nuevo laredo, catch a taxi five miles out of town, and wade the river?....

in the summer, when the snow melt is over in new mexico and the irrigation pumps are in high gear, you can walk from mexico to texas in water no deeper than the waist....

if they learn some spanish(and hugo`s down in venezuela teaching them), even better......just wear well worn, preferably thrift shop purchased 1980s style 'urban cowboy' type country and western clothing like most of the illegal alien day laborers in the southwest wear, and they'll fit right in.....

the insanity of it all: open borders, foreign "students" that disappear, a mohammed follower policewoman refusing to have her picture taken with her boss because it would be used for propaganda??....carpet store owners refusing to complete an order to a sargeant in iraq requesting mats for the troops because he,as a muslim, disagrees with our iraq policy?......ya` think he supports the troops?...............

what is it?..... stupidity, death wish, short term political greed, apathy?....

what is it that keeps the west from going into attack ot at least survival mode?...

and our government(yes,bush...and the dems) continues to allow muslim subversives(libs call them students) free access to our country, inviting another attack....

war on terror my ass.....

http://usinfo.state.gov/gi/Archive/2006/Jan/19-941422.html

""The United States is working to renew its welcome to foreign visitors and is giving "top priority" to getting visas into the hands of prospective students, according to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice....

remember those egyptian students that were busted by montana state university?......they said they got lost?..or something equally stupid....

mtsu isn`t exactly a big-name school....which is more likely? ...that this was the only group of islamic students not monitored in the u.s.....the only potential cell operating in the u.s?....or this was the only college in the u.s. who's actually cooperating with homeland security? ...

i`d say the latter...

a sieve for a border...student visas given out like candy....

i think we're in deep smegma,my friends.....we`re going to take it up the giggy...sooner rather than later....

stevie,if we`d left saddam alone.....if there were no iraq war..,and bush proposed taking action on iranian nuclear sites, you`d be whining about that,too....

you`d be screaming,"the u.n. has to handle it"....of course that means "bottleneck" at the u.n.... the iranians would just pay off the u.n. members much like saddam did...

and btw, we all know you`ll be whining until they give gore the 2000 election...that`s at the core of all the bush hatred...not the iraq war...

let me ask you ,stevie.......if we had left saddam alone...and the mullahs in iran were following their pursuit of nuclear weapons as they are now(and why wouldn`t they, given the u.n.`s cowardice and corruption),what do you think saddam would be doing?.....

playing yahtzee?......twiddling his diddle while the hated persians armed to the teeth?....

don`t you see the snowball rolling down the hill?...now egypt wants nukes...jordan...saudi arabia.....

what you don`t get is that saddam showed the iranians and the rest of the middle east that the u.n. has no teeth...the rest of the world has no spine....and obviously,we can`t do it all....

that`s why we`re in the mess we`re in...if the world had shown a united front against saddam`s flaunting of 17 u.n. resolutions, then the iranians would have thought 3 times before moving on their current path...

now, thanks to the u.n.,we`ll have had to deal with them one way or the other...

and how about al qaeda planning attacks on america from iraq?....kerry said it`s a civil war....an insurgency....not al qaeda...........

duh???

to be fair,i will say that i can picture idiot bush back in august weighing this report....after all, letting it out would spoil his attempts to squash that border fence business and get the mexicans mad at him....

and abc....i question the timing of the info being released....how long did abc have the info?....

proof of a link between al qaeda and iraq would have been bad for the dems during the midterms.....

this stuff`s been out there for 6 months...

we`re getting screwed from all sides and in every orifice....

lets agree on something, shall we?.....we quite simply are not serious about fighting this war...... even if "the big one" hits, it's unlikely we'd get much more "serious" than we are now. ...

i hope theres "something" that will get america's blood boiling.....maybe a "beslan" style attack here where they target and kill our kids....

but, even at that, our government will do next to nothing, and the left will wring its collective hands and wail "why do they hate us? ...."what can we do to make them like us?"

remember..this all started WAYYY before bush was president...bush was the cornpone governor of texas when al qaeda called for the death of bill clinton...

A yes Iraq will pay for all our problems with there oil. Wrong. But did we pee off about 20000 new recruits that wish to come here and blow up a few things. You bet we did. We seem to like to create more enemies. In next five years I have a hunch they will pull it off once or twice.

You are the only one I see whining Mr. Weasel.
You don't know what a crippled Saddam would be doing. You do not know what kind of negotiations would have taken place. Hell, you don't even if the towers would still be standing because some other President took the threat more seriously. Not a good idea to play that game. All we know is where we are now. And we know that all those countries you mention, including Iraq, is more of a threat then they were when Bush took office. We also know, that for the most part our hands are tied because of Iraq.
I got a feeling that if Jesus himself came down and wrote on Bushes forehead head tonight "Iraq = Bad Idea" you would say you still need one more sign.

but the one in 2000 was a big big one which you said caused an economic crisis. those others didn't. the amout of people that died were many more. Aug 6 memo Bin Laden ready to attack got thrown in the trash on your watch. 9/11 report got thrown in the trash except the one sentence about internet gambling that was most likely wrote in after receiving the 9/11 report arrived. The Iraq's report also found the circular file. Terrorist don't work on your rush rush time schedule dog especially when they know they have to be more careful. they work on their own. Maybe they are waiting to lull your buddy to sleep again.

I hear you, gw. It kinda makes a mockery of the idea that, with us over there, pinning them down and such, they won't be over here.

Weasel,

Mexico is a pretty homogeneous country. 5 Arabs walking or driving around would draw just a little attention. As for these student visas....anyone from a middle eastern country coming over here should go through a thorough backround check by the FBI. Also, they should have to check in on a regular basis while they are here. 19 Criminals brought down the WTC....19 of the 19 were of Middle Eastern Origin. Profiling middle easterners isn't prejudicial....it's smart. Instead, Grandma from Des Moines is getting frisked at the Airport. By the Way Weasle, Iran and Iraq were counterweights to each other. At least if they had developed Nuclear bombs they would be aiming them at each other. Now Iran has nothing to worry about and hence, will probably target Israel or Saudi if they get the chance.

Ah are we missing the point. Students. Remember the 19 that got in this country with student visa's.
It takes just a couple. And you can bet there not in the fight bogged down in Iraq. They be coming when ready unless we get security here at home in better shape.

HOW PHUCKIN SICK ARE REPUBLICANS ???

What about the saudi student program that Mr. Bush has endorsed for thousands of ARAB students to come into thes country.

This was just last year. some 15,000 arba students.

NOW HOW SICK IS THAT ?

Mr. Bush wanted to give our American Ports to the Arab Emirates....but has succeeded in letting these koksuckers into the country on visas in all our universities.

YES Mr. BUSH did this with The Royal Arab Family.

How many more warning sign do you repubs need?
