This is for a friend who does not have a computer and I'm not sure how to ask this, but I'll give it a shot.

Short version.......

Friend had an 94 Toyota (registered / insured), but car had no reverse. Vehicle was stolen by his roommate, then abandoned. Perpetrator who stole the vehicle was eventually caught. In addition to the stolen vehicle, there are other drug related charges against the perp. Trial is Feb 13. My friend rcv'd a summons to testify. My friend wants blue book restitution for his vehicle.

Is this a reasonable request?

sure it's reasonable, but I wouldn't hold my breath on getting any money out of the guy. Can he not just let his insurance company handle it? Why does he have to go to court?

Sounds like the summons to testify is for stolen vehicle and drug charges. The request for restitution would be another matter. Friend works at a courthouse and he once said the judge can order payment but there isn't anyway to enforce it. Keep us updated.
