How many of you buy/read books on betting?

If you do, where do you get them? I'm looking for titles, websites, actual stores. I think there's one in Vegas, but can't think of the name.

Another question: what's the best book on totals betting you've read? Or are there any books devoted to that subject exclusively?

Are you saying my strategy won't work? If not, then you have no point. My flip advice -- to bet the Under and go back to sleep -- will result in a better record than probably 80% of the people on here can achieve on their own.

Handicapping in the sense of making your own line is a waste of time, unless you're a paid linesmaker. The line is nothing but a reflection of what has gone before, the point is not to figure out how the game in front of you will be the same but how it will be different. And that is where the linesmakers have very, very little advantage over the average bettor and a disadvantage compared to, well, me.

Hey, IE, keep this in mind: "A man's got to know his limitations."

guess i misunderstood your reply for handicapping help from the orginal poster and his thread and your answer and now your quest for handicapping material from a book or document so was confused.

gbc in vegas usually has all the latest that you might be looking for, hence the link to the onlinebookstore..

as for the rest of your words, really don't have the energy or inclination to respond at this moment but will in the future for sure.

good luck in your investments.

Thanks, and the same to you. I do want to hear your opinions on this subject when you have the time.

I play totals mostly and, per my name, most of them are unders. I have enjoyed this site for years, and am only posting now because I know how to avoid losing.

I'll flesh out some theories later myself. And thanks for the GBC, I'd forgot the name, but that was the one.

I hope others will jump in if they are aware of any -- good, bad, indifferent -- books on totals betting.

Most betting books I've read are for beginners. That's not what I'm looking for. I recall another, can't remember the title, that was classic. The guy was winning 10k 4-team parlays every other page. It was hilarious as fiction, definitely a good read. But not plausible to anyone who's made more than one or two wagers.
