I will never understand. When up 3, foul with 2-3 seconds left, you'll win 99.9% otf the time. Instead its give em an open 3 for the tie.

coaches never get it, they never will.

it is almost like if i do that, and SOMEHOW they make the first freethrow then miss the second they will go for a three then win the game. possible? yes probable: no!!

my 2 cents as a coach, I dont like fouling as much as teaching the kids how to play what we call "X" defense, meaning all 5 guys outside the 3-pt arc, no one allowed to play inside it and show them how to switch ... in HS we work on this esp. when time to go to State etc ... I dont like fouling so much bc you can foul opps shooting a trey if they are cagey at times, and they can make one FT and miss one and you can even lose should they hit a trey on backside ...

Ive put a ton of thought and time in on this thru many years of coaching and come to conclusion to show kids how to guard the trey line properly, we have never allowed a trey to beat us or go into OT using this method ...

What the X-men did wrong was not switch and kept 3 men inside the arc, many CBB teams appear to have never tinkered with this concept of keeping all 5 outside the arc and jumpswitching dribble screens, which is what popped OSU open for the tying shot

amazing game nonetheless

A question I've been asking for years on end. How much sense does it make to give the other team a chance at a 3 to tie instead of fouling and at most giving them 2pts? Now, if you know this and I know this, why don't coaches know this? Can't be that hard................You can even put somebody in who has fouls to give with no big deal. :scared
