I think the big ten just got a little more competative with Rick and Tubby.

Iowa gets a good coach, but for how long? I can't see Majerus recruiting well @ Iowa when his health is terrible and anyone who has been to Iowa City knows their winters are HORRIBLE. I was in Iowa City last winter and the high temp one of the days was -10 degrees:com:

Probably the best color man ever in CBB, tell my players to listen to him all the time b/c he dissects a game like none other ... I will miss him in that capacity ...

That said, he's also one of the very best coaches Ive ever seen, so I'm excited to see his teams on the maples again ... He had mediocre talent compared to big timers and held his own many times, his triangle and 2 befuddled Lute and his aces in one of the best coaching jobs of all time, crushign what many considerd an unbeatable Zona team...

I hope he stays healthy, obviously he has an eating problem, an addiction that's as tough to beat as anything, but I wish him all the luck in the world on all fronts ...

congrats to Rick M.

I think it's Iowa's gain by getting Majerus...but his health has to be scary.Being a big time Al Mcguire fan he is the last of the lineage ..kinda like the Tudors in England.
He is a great recruiter and a very good coach..a good bench coach that makes adjustments...during the game..I read his book " My Life on a Napkin" and so much of it reminds me of myself and fellow coaches.
I agree with pt gd..will miss his tv commentating.' Ricks story is pretty amazing. he was the kid never picked in the playground games..cut from his Hs team. even his CYO team.he never belonged to any team because it was beyond his control. genetics has a say in it also.
He did a great job with utah, ball st and marquette..Iowa is lucky to get him..hope he stays healthy..

HI BOX:

read Rick's Napkin book, my neighbors gave it to me for my bday a couple years back ... Not the best book ever but he has some solid parts when he talks about PG play and other nuances, lil too repetitive on his consumption fetish, etc ... w/o a doubt the worst sports book I ever read was Vitale's first one--complete garbage, only finished bc my GF at time gave it to me for xmas and felt obliged
