McCain heckled by CNN reporter
Sun Apr 01 2007 13:50:38 ET

**Exclusive**

During a live press conference in Bagdad, Senators McCain and Graham were heckled by CNN reporter Michael Ware. An official at the press conference called Ware?s conduct ?outrageous,? saying, ?here you have two United States Senators in Bagdad giving first-hand reports while Ware is laughing and mocking their comments. I?ve never witnessed such disrespect. This guy is an activist not a reporter.?

Senators McCain and Graham flew into Iraq and drove into Bagdad, making stops at an open market and a joint Iraq/American military security outpost before appearing at the press conference.

This is not the first time Michael Ware has taken issue with Senator McCain?s comments about early progress in Iraq. Last week, after Senator McCain told CNN?s Wolf Blitzer that he needed to catch up on the news coming out of Iraq, Michael Ware responded, saying:

?I don't know what part of Neverland Senator McCain is talking about when he says we can go strolling in Baghdad.?

Michael Ware has also publicly expressed his views on the war last year in an interview with Bill Maher, saying, ?I've been given a front-row ticket to watch this slow-motion train wreck ? I try to stay as drunk for as long as possible while I'm here ? In fact, I'm drinking now.?

This guy lives there Mccain doesnt. This guy has been a class act everytime i have seen him. Maybe he is pissed off because McCain is trying to save his ass. If its so safe why didn't he and the rest of these lying fuks go by themselves and not with fifty thousand troops? McCain knows the ditch he is digging is getting deeper and deeper. the drinking comment was a joke on a comedy show. I know you don't know the difference with a joke and Fox's spin but hey you can't hand a guy common sense you are just born with it. by the way Ware doesn't live in the green Zone like the rest of our political cowards who run there mouths how safe it is.

It is kind of ironic how much DTB, who served when called, identifies with this group of corrupt chickenhawk pussies. I had respect for GW Sr. who served as the youngest bomber pilot in WW2, but his son is just a moronic cheerleader who has done his best to ruin this country.

Yeah, i've never understood that one.

Wayne served proudly and honorably and has taken plenty of shots at Clinton for dodging, but apparently has no problem with W, Cheney (lol), Feith, Wolfowitz and countless others(Wayne, you know the list, but if you insist) that are directly responsible for this clusterf*ck, doing the same.

Then he takes shots at people that served honorably like Murtha and Kerry. I haven't seen anything from him bashing Hagel(another decorated vet), but I suppose that's because Hagel's a Republican.

And what pray tell does Bill Clinton have to do with 3/4 of the threads you bring him up in?

But, back on point, the entire initial posted story here is based on supposed comments being made by an unnamed, unreferenced "official." There is no info at all here relating what "heckling" was done by Ware, and in response to what comments were made by McCain and Graham.

Personally, I would give plenty of latitude to a reporter stationed in the hot zones for an extended period of time to have a strong opinion about someone making a couple of stops at an open market and a security outpost - all the while being escorted by a strong military security force. Not surprising they didn't run into many problems...

Seems possibly scoffable to me. I know I find myself heckling the TV every time I watch Bush mumble-stumble through his speech 101 exercises.

what war was it that clinton served in?......

how`d he defy the u.n. and bomb the bejesus out of bosnia?.....withour serving in the military?

what national security interests were endangered by milosevic?

and btw...you left out bush`s daughters...you might as well make a complete fool of yourself...

another moronic chickenhawk argument demonstrating that when your hat size is larger than your i.q.,it`s better to be seen and not heard......

How many US troops were killed in Bosnia? 0, I believe is the right answer.

Who cares what the U.N. says about anything? That opinion goes for any president. The problem has absolutely nothing to do with the U.N. not giving approval.

You guys flail all over the place trying to compare our Iraq adventure to any sort of previous action/war, when there is, in fact, no comparison at all.

If you're having a difficult time finding a conflict that is instructive, let me once again point you in the direction of the big, bad USSR attempted occupation of Afghanistan. That's one comparison i've yet to see you, Wayne, etc.. make. It's the only one that's anywhere near valid.

I think his point may be Clinton was a cool, intelligent cheerleader, not like the moronic cheerleader, Junior. Well, that would at least be MY point.

Nothing like a moronic cheerleader, unless she is hot and shows up in the Mojo forum.

mr thumb ring: you missed the point entirely(shocking!)....

the point that jabberwocky was making was that those that didn`t serve, yet were elected to high office, should somehow be excluded from making military decisions...

.....whether you be president or just discussing the war issue.... no service=chickenhawk...no service=stfu?

next time you have a fire, put it out yourself....how dare you call a fireman... next time you need a cop,f.u....

and if you aren`t a teacher, don`t you dare discuss education...

and that`s beyond dopey....

how many innocent civilans were killed in bosnia?.....how many refugees did the bombing result in?....

does collateral damage count,or not?....

what`s the cut-off for acceptable military excursions?....

does it only count when national interests AREN`T involved?....that`s what you guys seem to think....

our national interests as they pertain to the middle east are staggering...unlike bosnia...or even n. korea.....

And now, the truth seems to be coming out on this unreferenced story from Drudgereport, from an unnamed source. Glad you are so thorough in your balanced coverage of the media, Wayne. Several links to the actual press conference showing no heckling at all, and no interruptions to McCain's commentary.

CNN reporter slams Drudge's charge that he 'heckled' McCain; Exclusive video confirms his claim
Michael Roston and David Edwards
Published: Monday April 2, 2007

CNN reporter Michael Ware this morning hit back at news aggregator Matt Drudge who accused him on Sunday of 'heckling' Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsay Graham in a Baghdad press conference. Video acquired by RAW STORY appeared to show a short press conference without any interruptions, and with Ware himself asking no questions during its question and answer session.

On CNN this morning, Ware denied the Drudge Report 'exclusive,' which ran yesterday, and questioned his source.

"This is a report that was leaked by an unnamed official of some kind to a blog, to somewhere on the internet," Ware told Soledad O'Brien this morning on CNN, according to an unofficial transcript posted at the conservative blog Power Line. "No one has gone and put their name forward. We certainly haven't heard Senator McCain say anything about it or any of his staff have come forward to say anything about it."

Ware instead accused the officials running the press conference of preventing the CNN correspondent from even asking a question.

"Indeed, I didn't say a word. I didn't even ask a question," Ware added. "In fact, when I raised my hand to ask a question, the press conference abruptly ended, so what I would suggest is that anyone who has any queries about whether I heckled, watch the videotape of the press conference."

RAW STORY acquired the following video clip of the introductory remarks segment of the press conference on CNN, which did not appear to include any interruptions from Ware or other reporters.

[Video link on the site linked above]

This next video shows the Q&A, where Senator McCain and the other participants fields questions from four reporters. The Senators answer without interruption, and CNN's Ware, who appears to be sitting just in front of the camera in the full-room shots of the press conference, does not ask a question, although he does raise his hand toward the end of the clip when the Q&A is concluded.

[Video link on the site linked above]

Drudge alleged on his website yesterday that Ware had heckled the Senators during a live press conference.

"An official at the press conference called Ware?s conduct 'outrageous,' saying, 'here you have two United States Senators in Bagdad [sic] giving first-hand reports while Ware is laughing and mocking their comments. I?ve never witnessed such disrespect. This guy is an activist not a reporter,'" according to Drudge's article, which has circulated heavily on the internet.

Ware has criticized McCain heavily on CNN broadcasts since the Senator made his statement that certain neighborhoods of Baghdad were safe enough to walk through.

"Senator McCain's credibility now on Iraq, which has been so solid to this point, has now been left out hanging to dry," Ware said on CNN's Situation Room on March 27. "To suggest that there's any neighborhood in this city where an American can walk freely is beyond ludicrous. I'd love Senator McCain to tell me where that neighborhood is and he and I can go for a stroll."

Michael Ware's on air response to Drudge's charge is included in the this additional video clip from CNN's American Morning.

Nice job Chadman. You must be ever vigilant around here with these awesome sources always being used. Very dissappointed in you, Dogs. Your penalty should be that you can't use the phrase "liberal blog" for a week.

These rotten creeps are the same people who trash organizations like moveon.org. They lie and lie and lie and then when challenged they get the clueless like Wayne to buy there bullshit. I knew this was a stand up guy. Its the same ole shit with these dirtbags. You call them to the carpet and all they can do is try to dirty you up. These pigs know the truth and instead of debating the issues they try to smear this guy. If you have people who buy this bullshit and are dumb enough to believe it i guess its okay to do it. Its on par with using Katrina as a way to scam money off of people. 9/11 to scam money. Its basically the same shit. A lie.
