i've never seen so many posts for a single day of sports. someone (maybe i will) should track the records of posters on here, maybe that will discourage so many people from posting, or encourage. would anyone object to that? maybe i'll only do it with people who post their YTD records so i don't have to go back 3 days and count em all up.

suggestions for who should be on the leaderboard to begin? we'll do it by win %? i think if you do it by +unit totals it could get skewed, i guess we could do it both ways.

maybe just a weekly update to the leaderboard. like every monday before the 1pm games. more often if i have time on my lunch break. most people that are serious post their total records so i'll just start with those that do.

very good point. i'm conflicted with how to do it, and i don't want to discourage people from posting plays that are less than their "best bets"

we'll start it after this week. :) i hope i can stay on it. i'll make a post stating how it will be scored. (you think people will adjust their units b/c of it? like just double the "units" by cutting the unit value in half?

ive noticed that everyone doesnt keep their units accurately...for instance, i was checking out someones picks and they had two 3 unit picks, 1 lost and 1 won, the 1 that won paid -240, so that shouldve been around -1.75 units or so on the day, but they posted it as and even day on units..some dont factor in the juice and just count it as + or - 3 units, when it actually is less than +3 units if they win a negative payout...most people do it right, but some dont...not sure if i worded all that right, hopefully i did, just my two cents worth there

Most people that post units are betting to WIN that amount So a -240 bet to win 3 units, you would risk 7.2 units to win 3 units.

If someone wins a bet @ -240 and loses a bet at +100, they would cancel each other out. If you lose the -240 and win the +100 and then you have - units.

This would have to be the assumption you would make when tracking units, unless they specify Bet X units to Win Y units.

yeah, that's true if his example is exactly how you said, odds are it's not, the guy just skewed his #s. yeah, well, it'll all become clear after a couple weeks and those guys won't be anywhere near the leaderboard.

i understand what youre saying...he was skewing his #'s...if he won a bet, then he was showing that it was to win 3 units and he placed a 7.2 unit bet...but if he lost a bet he was showing it as a him only placing a 3 unit bet to win 2.7 units....either way, he was showing it a + or - 3 units...you are right though, they wont be around later...good luck with your season and i hope you're able to do this

The Winner's Circle
Juice MUST be included when tracking a record! Does "the man" not collect juice these days? If so, let me know where I can lay my bets without any vig.

interesting idea but i dont think it will really show anything....especially if you have someone who bets 100 units and someoen who bets 5 units per game

agree

one guy bets 100 units on one game, wins, and sits atop your leaderboard til all-star break. go with minimum number of bets and ROI or even better dont rank just list.

yeah, a list, there's no prizes or anything. yeah, and someone with 4 plays a week will be left off. just for the players here. and i think the guys who we know will be on there aren't fudging their #s

Easy way to solve this (If you are doing this in Excel and then copy/pasting) is to list units won and add another row with their average unit bet size. Divide this into their total units +/- and you have a fair comparison.

(A) is at +200 units
Average bet size is 20 units

(B) is at +50 units
Average bet size is 5 units

They would both had won the same amount...10x average bet size.

However you plan on doing this it would be interesting to see all in one thread, if you're willing to do the grunt work. :com:

yeah, not that much. just copying and pasting worthy people's stats into one thread. people that are worth following post their stats, except Ray, i know he doesn't. but it's not that hard to track for 1 or 2 guys. and it'd only be updated like once a week.
