This is the third game in a row he's looked awful. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with him. He really shouldn't be struggling against the punch and judy Padres. It seems like there have been some good pitchers struggle early in the year and then go on the DL. Wondering if he's next...

he has 9 k's and not even out of the 4th. might not win, but he's just fine.

plenty of pitchers struggle in the 1st.

You're right, I jumped the gun. I just know that he's struggled big time lately and he got off to such a bad start I was seriously starting to wonder if something was wrong. He's normally pretty dominant but hasn't been lately. Pavano, Schmidt, etc... seems like a lot of starters are going on the DL early in the season.

Sorry to 'hijack'

How about Zambrano? His velcocity has looked ok but he has been throwing too many fat pitches.

Brett Myers? I know I just said the other night he is not a true #1, but he don't look right either to me.

Odalis Perez? J/K he just really sucks

Great points. Zamby hasn't looked good at all and Myers is a shell of the pitcher he used to be. I know you have to give pitchers some slack at the beginning of the season but guys who are normally dominant that get shelled every time out... you have to wonder if something's wrong.

Glen,

I also wonder how the unseasonably cool weather has played a part with certain pitchers performance. Going from nice & warm in the cacuts /grapefruit league to mid 30's and not even being able to feel the ball in their hands as well. Feels like a crap shoot this early on and many kudos to your success.
Also see a lot of great hitters off to some horrendus starts:

Sheffield .146
Pujols .160
Berkman .184
Texiera .170
M. Young .185
B. Hall .233
Crede .200
Zimmerman .200
Rolen .212
Manny .212
Stewart .182
Crisp .150
Cameron .173 Hitting 3rd in the Pads lineup Yikes!!!
Dye .212
Pierzynski .192

I never recall seeing so many guys at low 200 or below this late in April

Thanks. I've done ok so far but baseball is certainly not my best sport. The weather could definitely be a factor. Not just the cold, but the fact that there have been so many rainouts and guys have had to pitch on more rest than they're used to. The hitting has been anemic too. It seems like hitting with RISP has been REALLY bad, but that might just be my perception.
