Saying Belize City is a dump is much too kind, Vinnie. Not too safe after dark--but nothing open outside the hotels, either.
Only reason to go there as that is the only international Airport in Belize. If we buy land near St Agnacio(over by the Guatamalan border) we will travel in and out of Belize City; if we end up buying in the North, then it will be easier to fly into and out of Cancun and just drive down from there.
