Anyonel notice that Curlin had to be steadied in the opening stages, which forced him to rate far off the pace (something he never did before in his career) and that he passed about half the field in the last half-mile while being ridden 5 wide.

John Velazquez will make his Preakness debut aboard Todd Pletcher's King of the Roxy. That pair should alter the $$$ makeup of the race next Saturday. If you look to beat the favorite, Mario Pino has nearly 5,000 victories, mostly at Maryland parks. As lucky as Curlin was, getting a trouble free ride, he will need to do better. There will be a few fresh faces to contend.
Teuflesberg is out, if he was ever in.

King of the Roxy was one of two Preakness starters to work on Saturday,
a day in which the Preakness field shrunk to eight confirmed runners
with the defection of Teuflesberg. King of the Roxy went six furlongs
in 1:14.87 Saturday morning over the Belmont Park training track,
while Xchanger drilled five furlongs in 59.40 seconds over the Tapeta
surface at the Fair Hill training center in Maryland.

Cardshark, Ageecee knows the business. I only offer: Good work over the surface-a field of 10 or less-a fresh good horse-Velasquez/Pletcher combo. Pletcher might be overrated but JV isn't.
DRF says, for what it.s worth, that for one, the Rox was sick and the large field. Bad enough that Pletcher lost with 5 entries. I personally think he can win or be close and get a price. But, I'm also into Hard Spun and Curlin at the shorter distance to Challenge the favorite

So. Cal
I like Hard Spun. Maryland jockey will get it done. Has anyone seen the morning lines?

hard to have morning lines when there isnt even a confirmed field yet.

morning lines will come out on wed and i dont see much value in the race as street sense-curlin-hard spun will be the 3 clear favorites all three at 4-1 or less

If that were the case, a 2 horse exacta box would get 6/1-7/1 because a JV/Pletcher combo devalues Roxy. Be lucky to draw 10

Could be rainy tomorrow, somebody or all might wire it or at least stay on the pace. A muddy track after a 2 week rest could take it's toll in the stretch. Some of these boys are barely 3. Hard Spun - May 10th. Hope you all do well

Vanished into vortex
Dan Murphy Jr, I owe you big for this post. You posted this just after the Derby and this post is the sole reason I went back and watched the replay again and again.

So, I guess you could say it's the reason I ended up betting the 4 today, and hard.

Thanks man, thanks tons!
