I had the Suns to win the whole thing forgetting the playoff format the NBA uses. I never thought they would play the Spurs till possible the end but lets face it guys its about defense and this team refuses to play it. You can talk all you waant about the suspensions but this team is lucky to win one game. If Ginobbli shot like he usually does there would be no game six. I always say i think the suns have a great front office but this coach and this style wont win shit in the playoffs. Until he finally realizes this they will not go anywhere. He wouldn't even get out of the East. I got to tip my hat to Bowen. Althou I think he is a tad dirty but i think physical would be more suited, he made Iverson and Nash's life a living hell. That is what good defense does. And Nash please learn to play just a speck of defense. I can't bare to see a one deminsional player win the MVP award again when in fact if you played for a shit team you wouldn't even be talked about.

I wouldnt go that far............they had some incredible bad breaks in this series..........Nash not being able to finish game 1(missed 2 plus minutes).......suspensions etc. etc.

I have not doubt they would have won this series wothout all the flukes.........

i am a front runner. LOL. :142smilie :mj07:

you want me to scan you my collection of david robinson cards 90's cards, my birth certificate that I was born in San Antonio, and a room filled with memorbolia?

and about last year, the SPURS were the better team. Refs got Dallas by that series. no joke. you will shrug it off but it sadly if you rewatched it and checked box scores youd see something.

i have been then thru the thick and the thin. Not all the years have been joyfuil, many bad beats and glummy summers, so when my team wins I will say whatever I want in celebration. If you happen to go check my post history with bets with the spurs you will see I did a good damn job. Maybe I know what I am talking about. chill out and stop blasting others when you lose some money.

Who are theses "others" I am blasting???

Yeah I lost some coin on the series but I am still up 50 plus units for the year.............

Your are not objective enough to admit your team got some big time fortunate breaks in this series...........

Yes they recieved some breaks, I will admit that. That doesn't omit that the Spurs were the better team, however. Almost in all playoffs, this happens (breaks). If Ginobili doesn't foul Dirk last year Spurs would be working on a 3 peat right now. If Fisher doesn't make that shot in 2004, Spurs could have had another title as well. sh!t happens.

spurs i agree with you that the refs helped Dallas get by the Spurs so i hope you agree with me that they helped the Spurs get by Detroit. All that flopping by Ginobbli and not one block called on him. Detroit controlled that series almost every game and looked by far the better team but selective fouls in certain situations killed them. To me this spurs team is much better than that team because that team had a tough time scoring. Duncan was completely shut down in that series as Wallace and Rasheed did a terrific job. People were starting to doubt Duncans ability that series and i kinda felt bad for him because it was the double teams that were stopping him and two guys that play good defense. Like i said i think the Spurs are a better team and i think the Pistons are not as good as they were that year. Which makes me think the Pistons will beat them this time. that is if they can get past superman.

Like i said i think the Spurs are a better team and i think the Pistons are not as good as they were that year. Which makes me think the Pistons will beat them this time. that is if they can get past superman.

few things:

1. Detroit came alive right starting at Game 3. Two blowouts in SA were Game 1 and Game 2, SPurs rolled easily and Manu was playing like a top 2 SG in the league.. The wheels started to fall off starting at Game 3. Game 5 Detroit had that game, and probably would have won the finals if Horry didn't make that shot. That Detroit team was damn good (they were defending their title) but so were the Spurs. Someone had to win and spurs got lucky in a sense, but deserved it no doubt..

2. Duncan started playing incredibly sh!tty in game's three and game four. Give credit to Rasheed, he is one of the best when guarding TD. Then to have Ben Wallace as an anchor made life miserable.

3. Ginobili sure he flopped, but he played like superman in games 1, 2, 5, and 7. He was even in contention (as absurd as it sounds) for being Finals MVP which people had some cases for.

4. Defense wise 2005 we were probably slight better, just because we played with bigs back then (nazr, nestorvich), but I would have to agree with you the offense has picked up nicely.

5. I remember everoyne doubting Duncan, calling him a choker (incredibly dumb given his resume STILL), and trying to degrade him as much as they could. THen in Game 7 , he carried the SPurs and got all the bashers off his back. ONe of my favorite moments in all of sports.

The series was definitely "tainted" and I hate the spurs more than anything. I even hate Tim Duncan more than anyone.

BUT.....he played the best ball he ever has imo. He was phenomenal and boring as he is, is worthy of every accolade. I lost a ton on the series and whole playoffs for that matter.

I really don't think it would have matter much, but again we will never know. Tim Duncan played like a first ballot hall of famer which he is, and even made a true believer out of me and I can't stand him. He was great and props to him. Hopefully this is his last hurrah, he wins the championship and takes a back seat to the Garnett-Bryant era coming to theaters near you in October.

I don't remember Duncan playing that well in game 7 But i wasnt one of the guys that was villifying him. I like to see anyone try to score being defended by both Wallace and Rasheed. Looks like we watched the same series i just thought there were calls on the Pistons that were killing them and those calls shouldn't have been called. Mostly with the Ginobbli flop.
Not sure if you saw this play in the Suns Spurs series but Ginobli shot a three and fell out of bounds but it was to hard to tell what happen. Nash was guarding him. Was in game five at the end. Nash gets up screaming "IT WAS A FLOOOP" I never knew if it was or not because they wouldn't give us a good angle on it but it was funny to see Nash screaming this.

One of the biggest reasons i had Pheonix to win it all this year was thinking Boris Diaw was gonna be the next superstar. This kid played like a man last year down the stretch. I seen super stardom all over this kid and i heard Majic say the same thing. When Stoud came back it was like it was a relief to him and he then vanished and just started to collect checks. In my eyes he was a huge disappointment this year and it was like he was just going thru the motions. I thought the trade with Atlanta was the biggest heist of the decade giving up Joe Johnson for Diaw and two number ones. I guess he just turned into a guy collecting a check like most of these guys. I couldn't give enough praise to this kid last year and to completely vanish is mind boggling. If he plays like he did last year this style might have worked but just to let Amare take the whole load just doesn't make any sense. Where was a coach to get in his face and possible wake him up?

Sponge. If Diaw OR Barbosa do jack squat this series, its not even a series. They gotta learn to play halfcourt basketball. Diaw looked like a lamb out there.

Spurs-Pistons round 2 on the way...

Mav maybe you are right but i just couldn't see this team closing the show if they had both guys the whole time. I guess we will never know. they lost the last game and one of the Spurs best three point shooters was suspended and still guys were taking wide open threes. If you are gonna double Duncan you have to do it from the blind side. Jordan and Pippen were masters at this. This kinda assine defense from Nash doubling Duncan when Duncan can see him coming reminded me of when Philly Lost to the Lakers and Larry Brown kept doing the same thing to Shaq. Sending double teams at him that he could easily see. Three after three but this stubborn prick of a coach kept doing it.

The problem is Pete these guys don't know what it is like to be defended. All year they have open shots but now in the playoffs guys are a step or two closer to them. Barbosa looks like a superstar against the Memphis's of the world. Put someone in his face and it is a different story. I can't imagine what Hamilton or Billups would have done to him.
