Eagles to trade McNabb to Bears?

Posted: Sunday May 20, 2007 08:08AM ET

The recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb could mean that Donovan McNabb will be traded before the 2007 season. A few observers have opined that McNabb will be moved after the coming season. But here's a scenario that has him moving before September. The Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. This scenario obviously depends on two things. One, that McNabb is physically ready to play on Week 1 of the 2007 season. Two, that Chicago is convinced McNabb is their best available QB option.

i would love this trade being i live in chicago... but I think it will not happen because Lovie loves Grossman. Mcnabb would be fun though for the offense... no longer would we have Mr. Erratic at QB.

true... I guess I would rather have healthy McNabb then Grossman.... experience over youth.

Mcnabb has had only 2 games (in his career) in which his passing ratings was under 50.... Grossman had 5 games last year alone in which his rating dipped (way) under 50... with one game being a big fat zero!! (on twelve passing attempts / 2 completions / 3 interceptions)

blah blah... did not want to turn this into a grossman bash.

Mcnabb in Chicago.. would be a good thing provided he is healthy.

It would be a great move for both teams. Mcnabb is not a Philly guy and he has fallen out of favor with the hardcore fans. Flukey injuries and all Mcnabb would make Chicago better right away and Andy has shown he can win with just about any decent QB. It would be a fun trade to watch unfold

Booz if i was gonna trade mcnab first off i think you could get more because a lot of these gm's are not that bright. I would send him to detroit and grab that big defensive lineman #92 and take a receiver off of them. Millen would have fallen for that. Then i would have my dream. Seeing Mcnab play for a team with a defense that doesn't carry him most of the game. I will say this tho and not even in the TO year did i think this but last year i finally thought Mcnab showed improvment. His passes were finally in stride with the receivers but right before he got hurt he was again throwing balls in the dirt and over guys heads. You just can't teach accuracy. I think Reid finally wised up and saw what Garcia can do for his system. Mcnabs days are numbered. Probably could have tricked Oaklaand out of the number one pick if they only would have kept Garcia. Tampa might be a sleeper this year as soon as Gruden figures out what he is gonna do with the 15 quarterbacks he has. None of them are as good as Garcia. The kid last year was brutal but it was his first year.

If Chicago makes that trade they are screwed.

McNabb's best years are behind him.

No way they win a Super Bowl with McNabb.

Briggs would make Philly alot better immediately.

If Chicago needs a QB , we will give them Vick

McNabb was born here and he's only been in the league since '99. I think with the Bears O line and running game he may like the change of scenery and be mature enough to play in front of friends and family.

Agreed about the Eagles defense carrying Mcnabb for the majority of his career. His best numbers are against really horrible teams while he struggles an d his record sucks againt winning teams Agreed he was starting to hit recievers in stride last season but it took him 8 seasons to do so? Thats weak

Booz im telling you he had one good playoff game his whole carreer and he wasn't even that good in that game. The Rams game. Terrible pressure player. Garcia played better against the Saint then Mcnab did his whole playoff career. I think Reed has had enough with him. He is the Lebron James of the NFL. Every week we are feed a bunch of bullshit on how he is the greastest quarterback since Unitas. I say this all the time and i will say it again if he was drafted by Cincy back in the day he would be sitting right were Achilles Smith sits today. The defense saved his ass for four years. And that defense never got credited for it.

As a big Eagles fan ... I would not immediately love a deal like this, however, McNabb has an extremely fragile ego and is mentally weak. Otherwise, in my humble opinion, he is the 4th best QB in the NFL behind only Brady, Manning and Palmer. And I would probably have to rank Drew Brees 5th best.

However, had the Eagles resigned Garcia as a backup and therefore still had him available to run the offense this season while Kolb gains experience, I would have been okay with a deal like this because I think this kid Kolb might actually be pretty good but since the Eagles are already a contender now, I would not like having to start A.J. Feeley, Kelly Holcomb or the rookie this season.

As for Da Bears, I think a trade like this would make them the NFC favorite. Currently. I would rate the Saints as the odds on favorite in the NFC to start the season.

Anyway, just me 2 cents.

GO EAGLES!!!

I could find 4 quarterbacks right in the nfc i would rather have then Mcnab. Lets see how his accuracy is this year. If it is as bad as it usually is then its time to let another sucker have him. Just looking at the Tools Romo has shown already in one year shows me i would rather have him. Mcnabb is a lot like Eli. Blessed to get in a decent system where the defense carries you. Both have terrible accuracy. Put them on teams with no defense and you will see how bad they are. Mcnab over Brees? No freakin way.

If I am the Eagles - I make this trade in heartbeat.Mcnabb is at least one notch and probably two notches below the best qb's in the NFL at this time.
Take into account Mcnabbs age/ and recent injuries and he is on the downside for sure
It' s actually not the worst trade for a bears team that only needs a QB with the range Mcnabb has left to maybe win it all

Love Briggs.......but LBs are not a limited-resource commodity; QBs most assuredly are a limited resource. Ole' #54 can cover a lot of mistakes, and Angelo knows he can find the next Lance Briggs in the draft. His track record for drafting D is non-pariel.

If Rex had been as good as McNabb's lower-quality performances, we might have stole that SB.

I make this trade and never look back. I wanted that 6 pick for Briggs, so I'll take McNabb's golden yrs in a second.............and I do not believe Iggle fans would very pleased if this actually went down and they kept running into D-Mac in the Divisional Playoffs.

Agreed. This trade only made sense if they kept Garcia aboard, and gave the kid time to grow in the system. Sending a QB out of town without a viable option to replace him doesn't sound like a good strategy to me.
