The text quoted above is too reactionary even for the acerbic Rooney, and the language used doesn't sound like him. ("Shoot your sorry ass" just isn't the kind of phrase Andy Rooney employs on television.) Just to be thorough, we checked the transcripts of all of Andy Rooney's 60 Minutes pieces from the last ten years, and nothing like this item turned up.

Moreover, Andy Rooney himself denied it in 2003, saying:
About a year ago, I became aware of a more serious theft of my name and it is so hurtful to my reputation that it calls for legal action against the thief. Hundreds of people have written asking if I really wrote the 20 detestable remarks made under my name that have had such wide circulation on the Internet.

Some of the remarks, which I will not repeat here, are viciously racist and the spirit of the whole thing is nasty, mean and totally inconsistent with my philosophy of life. It is apparent that the list of comments has been read by hundreds of thousands of Americans, many of whom must believe that it accurately represents opinions of mine that I don't dare express in my column or on television. It is seriously damaging to my reputation.
Mr. Rooney disclaimed the above-quoted piece again in his 60 Minutes segment of 23 October 2005, saying of it:
There's a collection of racist and sexist remarks on the Internet under a picture of me with the caption ?ANDY ROONEY SAID ON 60 MINUTES.? If I could find the person who did write it using my name I would sue him.
The final two items on the list are probably a good tipoff that either this collection was written (by an as-yet unidentified author) as a parody of the "A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney" spots on 60 Minutes, or someone appended Andy Rooney's name to an unattributed piece because it "seemed like something he would say." Either way, whoever created this version appears to have lifted some parts from an earlier piece known as "Yes, I Guess I am A BAD American" and falsely credited to comedian George Carlin.

Smurph i start a business right from the get go i have to pay taxes and they don't. Its called fairness. What the heck am i being penalized for? It should be the other way around or neither one of us gets the breaks. I think i could start any kind of business in the world if i could pay no taxes for seven years. (Not positive if that is the rule but i think it is). What is it with you and these foriegnors and illegal immigrants? Here is a nice story from the rat Bastard foreigner I had in the strip mall with me when I had my restaurant. We had a total slumlord and luckily I have some building skills. The Pakistani down the corner had a horrible problem with his door. It looked like someone hit it with a car. I felt sorry for the guy and brought up all my tools to fix this thing and it wasn't an easy job. All the hinges were striped out the door was bent, just a mess. well this piece of shit job takes me three hours to fix and he is grateful. NO big deal like I said I felt bad for the guy. A week later the guy catty corner from me has a gas station just like the Paky. This guy spends all this money advertising about dropping his gas prices on Saturday only for 3 hrs. A twelve cent drop. It was in the paper, on the radio etc. Guy must of spent a ton on advertisement. Well, its Saturday and he drops his prices and doesn't this rat bastard Paky drop his too. I mean he couldn't let this guy get three hours of sales? I go over and say to him "Dude this is a dick move" He says what is he gonna do lose his business" I said for three hours? Well in short I never helped this guy again. No wonder his windows were the only ones that got smashed on a repeated basis. I'm sure weasel and DTB feel this was a great business move. Me I think it was a dick move.

It puts me at a complete disadvantage to the foreigner. I would figure if anyone is gonna get the advantage it might be the American. If this law is true this would be on my list of "i know how to balance a budget" You can throw in taxing religions and bang we are off and running..

Smurph first of all i thought you took the patriotic pun as me being serious and if you did it was a joke. Im not saying Hammers post is authentic. What i am saying is i have heard this comment on more than one occasion and from people who had a business or a guy who's foreigners wife's family has a business. Look my brother is having a party here tomorrow night and i have been fixing shit and cleaning all week and im to beat to research this. Since i sold my shop im surprised i never did. I would have research this myself because i have always wondered if this is true. Hammers article is not the first time i have heard this tho. Maybe Fatdaddycool or what ever his name is can clarify this law because he seems to know everything else. See if you can ask your buddy if he can help. I only have enough strength to type.
