Santa Anita Derby (G1) hero TIAGO
who finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby (G1),
breezed three furlongs in :36 4/5 at Hollywood Park on Tuesday. The John Shirreffs trainee could
make his next start in the Belmont S. (G1)
Probably the closer for the Mile and a halfer.

There's rumor of a foreign horse here for the
Belmont and he may be very good. Don't know the Quarantine requirements but if it's true, the horse would have to be here and barned now.

Calvin Borel, a Louisiana native who won the
Kentucky Derby aboard Street Sense, will be
riding at Lone Star Park for the first time in
three years Monday. He will pilot Jonesboro
in the Grade 3, $400,000 Lone Star Park Handicap.
This could be a hot one.
-----------------------------------------------
Also, Mario Pino, who guided Hard Spun to a
runner-up finish to Street Sense in the Kentucky
Derby, is scheduled to ride Sweetnorthernsaint in
the Lone Star Park Handicap.

Good one today @ Belmont: 7th #10 Lunenburg 5/1 - Coa or Castro
Ran 3rd @7/1- Always get an honest effort with a
Roy Lerman trained runner

Gomez to ride Hard Spun in Belmont
All week, the connections of Hard Spun said little
about their jockey situation, but that spoke volumes.
It was becoming increasingly clear that
jockey Mario Pino was going to be replaced
for the Belmont Stakes following his
questionable ride in the Preakness Stakes.
On Saturday, Garrett Gomez was confirmed
as Pino's replacement by Larry Jones, who
trains Hard Spun.

Jockey Andrew Lakeman, involved in a spill at Belmont Park
on Friday, remained in critical condition at
North Shore University Hospital on Long Island
Saturday with severe spinal cord damage
and a fractured chest.
Meanwhile, jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr., involved
in the same spill, suffered a broken collarbone
and is expected to be out of action a minimum
of six weeks.
Neither rider has Insurance.

Would love to see how Rags to riches would fair against this triple crown group.

Larry Roman was hugely disappointed when he learned that Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense would not be running in the Belmont Stakes.
Roman plans on running his newly acquired 3-year-old Digger in next Saturday's $1 million Belmont against Preakness winner Curlin and Derby runner-up Hard Spun.
Retired 64 yo Angel Cordero was offered the mount, but the retired Cordero turned it down saying the Oxygen tank he would have to carry for the mile and a half race would put too much strain
on the horse. Maybe Corel? America's jockey

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Slew's Tizzy had his final workout for the Belmont Stakes when breezing a half-mile in 48.20 seconds over a fast surface early Saturday at the Thoroughbred Training Center in Lexington, Ky.
Slew's Tizzy will be ridden by John Velazquez in.

Time Squared, who was sixth in the Blue Grass Stakes in April before winning an allowance race most, will run in the 139th Belmont trainer Patrick Biancone said Sunday
Julien Leparoux has the mount. Might end up with 10 entries

Rags to Riches has no prayer in thi field. Pletcher must be marbling Circular Quay. Seems to me a publicity stunt.

Above the Clouds....
I agree It's tough to back a filly against the boys. It's an almost throwout for me. She will take some money though. Pletcher says she's bred for a mile and a half and St Sence not being it opened up the field. She won't get my money.

Excellent take Morris - Saw on CNN where there were only 7 entries. If she can run that distance without falling down, she's got a prayer, especaily if she can put some air on the field she might get a good chunk of that $1M
