As for balls and strikes, etc....
I agree. I don't mind every so often if there is a close play and they give the benefit of the doubt to the veteran (or better player). But it just happens all the time.
For years, the Braves were good. But a big part of that was the way their pitchers would just hit the "corners" and get people out. They were throwing a lot of "balls" and you either swing and miss or let it go. Either way its called a strike.
Announcers praise Lebron for "putting his head down and going to the basket to get to the line". Well thats great. A lesser player does the same thing and its either a missed shot or maybe even an offensive foul.
Overall, sports are really bad today for so many reasons. Again, I'll go back to D-Wade. Half of his game is that he's a good player. The other half is that he's fast and he just chases guys who are out of position to make contact and go to the line.
I think all sports need to re-examine and end up doing 2 things. Paying refs a LOT of money and revising the way games are called. No easy answer, but something to the effect of, if you can see a player go into the lane just hoping to get fouled don't call it.
Flops are either fouls on the flopper or technical fouls on the flopper.
If a player "reggie millers" and kicks out to get a foul. Foul on the shooter. Perhaps flagrant.
ETC....
