As for balls and strikes, etc....

I agree. I don't mind every so often if there is a close play and they give the benefit of the doubt to the veteran (or better player). But it just happens all the time.

For years, the Braves were good. But a big part of that was the way their pitchers would just hit the "corners" and get people out. They were throwing a lot of "balls" and you either swing and miss or let it go. Either way its called a strike.

Announcers praise Lebron for "putting his head down and going to the basket to get to the line". Well thats great. A lesser player does the same thing and its either a missed shot or maybe even an offensive foul.

Overall, sports are really bad today for so many reasons. Again, I'll go back to D-Wade. Half of his game is that he's a good player. The other half is that he's fast and he just chases guys who are out of position to make contact and go to the line.

I think all sports need to re-examine and end up doing 2 things. Paying refs a LOT of money and revising the way games are called. No easy answer, but something to the effect of, if you can see a player go into the lane just hoping to get fouled don't call it.
Flops are either fouls on the flopper or technical fouls on the flopper.
If a player "reggie millers" and kicks out to get a foul. Foul on the shooter. Perhaps flagrant.

ETC....

Here is EXACTLY What I believe and a friend of mine and I go back and fourth on this constantly. There are days he believes it's fixed and days he doesn't. Ultimatly I think if you keep your eyes open in the manner i'm gonna explain most will agree with me.

Lines makers know EVERYTHING, they know if a player has a blister on their hand. They have guys at Batting practices and workouts they see how players are looking and are able to distinguish things that WE WILL NEVER EVER KNOW!

This is a "BUSINESS" without CUSTOMERS/CLIENTS YOU DO NOT HAVE A BUSINESS. Would anyone dissagree?

I own a catering Company. If my food is NO GOOD, will people come back? NO I have to CONSTANTLY come up with specials and different ways to keep people interested in the products. (Food, Parties) for me

Lets bring that over to THE GAMBLING WORLD. You have your typical WISEGUY VS SUCKERS CAPPING. People use this as their capping 'TOOL" If WISEGUYS WON ALL THE TIME there WOULD BE NO "SUCKERS" coming INTO the gambling WORLD. THUS, NO 'NEW" CLIENTEL FOR SPORTSBOOKS AND VISA VERSA. The VERY FIRST WAGER MOST OF US DID WE WON CORRECT? We got a taste of "WINNING" and continued. I challenge ANYONE to come in here and tell me They PUT A $100 WAGER on a sports game and lost THEIR VERY FIRST TIME and ARE still GAMBLING TODAY....If you did I'd love to know why you still gamble?

Linesmakers will make a LINE bcuz they WANT you to bet a CERTAIN WAY., BUT AGAIN. THESE ARE "HUMANS" we are talking about. It DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK. If The MAJORITY of the wagers GO toward the wrong way that they ANTICIPATED. THAT is WHEN "I" Believe IT IS FIXED. They WILL call in a FIX at that POINT to make sure they don't get burned. There is WAY TO MUCH Money involved for it "ALL" to be "LEGIT" But for EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, EVERY SINGLE SPORTS AND EVERY SINGLE GAME TO BE FIXED THAT TO ME WOULD TAKE TO MUCH INVOLEMENT AND THAT I DON'T AGREE WITH!

If everyone ALWAYS LOST, No ONE would EVER PLAY. If EVERYONE ALWAYS WON Books WOULDN'T HAVE A BUSINESS. They are SMARTER than US and they know EVERYTHING BEFORE WE KNOW. When you hear on the Radio "Barry Bonds MAY NOT PLAY" Trust me Linesmakers ALREADY KNOW IF HE IS OR ISN'T

Sorry a little long, just wanted to clear up my take on 'being fixed" I'm sure others have opinions on this that are different. This subject always intrigues me!

GamblingFool, well said.

Overall I agree that books know how to make money. Simple as that. They know more than most gamblers on top of the fact that they are getting juice.

I think there are a lot of games where they just even out both sides and collect the losers' juice.

Also TDJ

You have to remember...THESE LINES SAY IN NBA/NFL are -110..ALL Linesmakers HAVE TO DO to MAKE money is have 50% on 1 side and 50% ON THE OTHER SIDE AND THEY'VE MADE MONEY.

It is a HUGE industry that most of us can't even phathom what must be involved or go into to run this huge operation. The odds are DEFINITLY in THEIR FAVOR!!

I agree with what you say. Actually the point you just make is what I'm saying in the part you quoted me on.

When I talk about the juice, that's what I mean. That all they have to do is get half on each side and they make money.

When I get "info", it does sometimes affect the way I bet. Not because I think I can outsmart the book, more because I think I've got info that a lot of people haven't gotten or haven't gotten yet.

For me, its fun to play certain strategies and try to "read" the books. To figure out why a line looks "fishy" and play off of it, as well as try to use what I know about certain sports or certain teams. Sometimes its just fun to throw a dart and have action.

But I hate it when it looks like its fixed. When players or refs are on the take. I honestly don't think it happens that often, but I do think it happens. I don't condone it happening anywhere, but when it happens at the pro level, with all the money they have...with all the money we spend...thats just despicable.

I don't know if D-Wade was involved, but I will hate him forever because of last year's finals.

Well that's simple. You want action. You just bet a different way. There is still one winner and one loser in a game. Just because a game is fixed doesn't mean a gambler can't win.

Very good TD. I rarely bet a game i think is an honest game. I do bet them but they are probably only ten percent of my bets.

TD the biggest sucker line out there is that linesmakers want equal action on both sides. I could set lines to get equal action. They don't. They know what games they want to target and they know how to get most of the money on the side they are targeting. throw in a ffew refs they know they have in place and wallah a fix game. Some teams are so freaking bad that refs can't do it themselves so they need a few token athletes to get the job done. One team is this shithole cavalier team.
