If you have the money to spare, stay away from Vizio and buy a lil higher end product.

There's been some bad reviews and issues with the vizios as they get older

I have spent about 30 hours....

I have spent about 30 hours....

Researching and looking at LCD's.

Samsung by far is the best TV and picture money can buy.

I just purchased the 55" Sony SXRD for the living room to go along with the 50" Sony Grand Wega I have in my bedroom and love them both. I am partial to Sony. HD Directv goes very nice, and will be starting the pay on the NFL Sunday Ticket this month. Is it football season yet?

Good luck

I have a Samsung LCD 32" in my office/den room and a Panasonic 50" plasma downstairs. Definitely the better one is the LCD.

One thing, though, I'd recommend LCD for daytime viewing and plasma for nightime. LCD can be very bright at night and hurt your eyes when viewed in Dynamic or Vivid mode, but is viewed very well during the day in that same mode. Vice-versa for the plasma. Soooo.... for Saturday and Sunday football, can't go wrong with LCD. And do NOT get the Vizio.

My 2 cents.................

My 2 cents.................

Have heard problems with Vizio....and local repair shops have told me there is at times a problem with getting parts for repairs.
I Have 5 LCD 42" Vizios in each of my rental units..all less than a year old and all refurbs...all w no problems so far. They are selling for $699 and i paid $121 for a 5 year warranty. $821 fer 5 years .... if one cant be repaired they give me my $699 back and i get a new one. They all look fine to me and all the tenants are thrilled to have a big screen LCD provided with their rentals. I just jack the rent up 20 bucks a month.
For my own place i have 2 LcD Proj Sonys a 42 and a 50 inch. The new 1080 p Samsungs look real good too. Just saw a 56" Samy refurb today fer $999.
The Pioneers and Panasonics and Sharps are all very nice but cost 2 -3 times more than a Projection which has bigger screens over all. To me 10 12 hundred bucks is all a TV is worth. Not going to spend $5000 to $6000 on a TV.
Exr Warrantys for Projections are extremely cheap. For Plasma they are gaggy...Reasonable for LCD's but they pretty much stop at 50 inches.
Whatever u get absolutely get a 5 year extended warranty. If u are unfortunate enuff to have problems the repairs are wallet busters. Cheapest for projections and from what I'm told have the fewest repairs. Just what i know ..hope it helps.
