NOBLESVILLE -- An Indianapolis man shot while trying to disarm one of two robbers who crashed a Noblesville poker game was released from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Tuesday morning with a minor injury.
"Definitely very fortunate," Noblesville Police Capt. Brad Arnold said of David J. Nicoson, 35. "It was apparently more of a flesh wound than anything else."
Meanwhile, police are looking for the two men who fled with an undisclosed amount of money from the overnight card game at a home in the 12200 block of Lindley Drive.
Arnold said the gathering of less than 10 men and women was interrupted about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday when the robbers, with guns drawn, walked into the house through the front door.
After they ordered everyone to the floor and began taking their wallets and money, he said, Nicoson tried to disarm one of the men.
"A struggle ensued, and that's when the victim was shot," Arnold said.
He said the two men ran out of the house after the shooting. No one knew whether they fled in a nearby car or on foot.
Preliminary investigation determined that no one in the house knew the robbers, who were not wearing masks.
Nicoson was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he was released just before 6 a.m.
This is actually the third game heldup in the last month, they are all connected...:scared
