Buffalo @ New Orleans under 37

All reports out of Buffalo is that they are very pleased with the play of the defense. They have regularly been breaking up plays in inter-club scrimmages.
...The defense has been getting their hands on a lot of balls, recording numerous interceptions and pass breakups. Cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas had a nice pick on a Losman pass over the middle. Linebacker John DiGiorgio also stepped in front of a Craig Nall pass to receiver Scott Mayle.
Jauron said the players are doing a good job anticipating throws, but he also commended defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and the defensive coaches for instilling in the players a mindset of creating takeaways. Even on incompletions, defenders are instructed to pick up loose balls as if they were fumbles.
?I do believe we?re a fast defense,? Jauron said. ?They know what we?re trying to do better than they did a year ago. They?re [getting] hands on a lot more balls than they did early [on]. Some of them are outstanding plays, some of them are not great throws or a combination of both. We don?t really care defensively what they are as long as we get them. They?re working at it and it?s showing up on the practice field. Hopefully, it will keep showing up.?
...

Starters will get 10-15 plays, before Losman sits, leaving Nall to see a "little bit of action"...Then rookie third-round draft pick Trent Edwards is likely to see the bulk of the action, after Nall exits, Jauron said.

NO have been saying how embarassed they were v. the Steelers, but more-so on the defensive side of the ball. Pittsburgh marched up the field in the first 5 plays to score so NO will be much more committed and focussed for this one.
Sure, the offense didn't do much either, but they know what they are capable of. Last pre-season they scored just 19, 7, 14 & 9 before coming out to be the NFC's highest scoring team.

KC @ Cleveland under 36

Firstly 2 teams that will struggle to score anyway, I believe.
KC still looking for their starting QB have Huard and Croyle doing most of the game, and neither are any good!
Cleveland have Frye to open and Anderson/Dorsey to follow...Brady Quinn has ended his holdout but will not play in this game.
There's also a pretty strong coaching trend @ Cleveland with Crennel. In 2 years as the defensive co-ordinator @ NE they went 'under' 6 of 8 pre-season games.
First year at Browns he went 1-3 under, last year 2-2, but the 2 'over's were a 36 and a 37.

Good Luck guys.

Thanks guys. :toast:

Not sure why the SD/Seattle game total has dropped to 36.5.

Seattle QB's have been looking impressive in camp.

Top offensive play: There were quite a few, all during the morning practice. Backup quarterbacks Seneca Wallace and David Greene made a number of good throws in team drills, and the quarterbacks got the better of the defensive units in the two-minute drill.

They went 3-1 over last pre-season, scoring 30, 20 and 30 points in their last 3 games.
SD will play their starters for the first quarter (minus LT), and second team will get the next 2 quarters.
I think SD will be keen (even in pre-season) to get rid of the "Marty-ball" tag, and Norv Turner is the right guy to do it!
Offensive co-ordinator most of his coaching life, and in 4 pre-seaosn games as head coach of Oakland in 2004-05 they went 33-30, 20-21, 17-16 and 28-24.
Think they'll come out attacking in this one, so like the over at a good number.

Thanks guys. :drinky:

Was good to get a couple of winners after the Crows got, what, 5 goals from free kicks?...and boned our 7.00 lowest scoring team by a whole 5 points!

Not sure about the under in Baltimore today (31.5! :scared )...but will certainly be looking at a second half under. (I assume we can still do HT betting in pre-season?)

From Philli...Kevin Kolb, the team's top draft pick, has been told he will play the entire second half.
Kolb will probably be eager and nervous, but Reid won't ask the rookie quarterback to do too much.

"We're not just going to have him go out there and wing it every play," Reid said. "We can give the young running backs the opportunity to run the football a little bit, too.

and...For me, I just want to let the offense come to me and not force things," Kolb said. "A lot of times, rookies go out there and try to make too many plays and they make mistakes. I just want to play conservative football and move the team down the field and put some points on the board. If I can do that and play solid ball, I'll feel pretty happy about myself."

Sounds to me like throwing the ball will be very much on the backburners.
