McNabb will play his first game since tearing a knee ligament last November when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Carolina Panthers tonight. Philadelphia hopes to improve on their lackluster preseason opener, which they dropped to the Ravens 29-3. McNabb should provide a spark, but you can be sure that Reid will keep the kid gloves on. This is the first time that McNabb will step onto the field without the protective red jersey given to quarterbacks at training camp. He has not yet taken a hit or scrambled out of the pocket with live ammunition coming at him.

The defense looked less than impressive against Baltimore surrendering a 12-play, 93-yard drive to start the scoring. The Eagles are banged up in the secondary and Carolina should be able to take advantage. Brian Dawkins will not suit up for the Eagles and Lito Shepphard will play a very limited role.

"I can't tell you how many plays" Sheppard will play, Reid said. "It won't be very many. He'll go out and take a shot at it."

Carolina lists Jake Delhomme as their starter, but they have two capable QB's with David Carr backing him up. They each played a quarter combining to go 11/16 for 113 yards and two TD's, leading Carolina to 17 first-half points. The offense scored on three of their four drives. The defense did surrender two TD's of their own but one was the result of a 67-yard kickoff return, setting up the Giants with great field position.

Carolina should have too much first-half firepower to get by the Eagles.

Titans ML 1st quarter +145

Vince Young missed all of last week's game against Washington due to a team-imposed suspension. Jeff Fisher will want to get him at least a quarter of work in order to get him some reps.

"I'm looking forward to it, getting out there," Young said this week. "I really feel like I'm having an all right camp. I want to go out here and get some action with it as well to see how I really am. From what's going on in practice, I feel like it's real good. But I want to see against another opponent."

New England should be fielding a "B" team most of the game. Tom Brady is expected to play just a few snaps, while Moss and Maroney will sit the game out entirely. While I feel that New England's depth will ultimately win this game, I think there is nice value with Young in the first quarter, particularly considering this is his first action of the preseason.
