Seriously, very sorry to hear this. Who knows if insurance would have helped anyway, the way they are able to squirm out of liability. Where did this happen?
Just bought the place in Mahauhal near Chetumal(sp) last year. Hurricane hit them dead center. it was a small town and everyone said they will rebuild. Undeveloped part of the coast. No resorts.
I'm sure insurance wouldn't have helped. That part of Mex. is really poor. Hell they never heard of insurance down there. The people that come in and buy support the locals.

That's why they bought in that area. Cruise ships are just up the coast. It is investment property or was. They will rebuild.
We go to the Yucatan every year but stay at one of the resorts just south of Cancun. (Playa del Carmen).
Everyone owes it to themselves to go there once! Just a perfect place and one of the most affordable!
