College FB Week 1 Selections

Ah....What a great time of year. Very busy with work and trying to get all of my notes together for the football season. Going to start the year off with this play for Thursday.

UL Monroe +4 double play Loss

Really like the home team in this spot. 17 starters coming back from last years team who played much better than their record indicated. I look for Cardia Jackson ,who lead the team in tackles last year, to lead those 9 returning starters on the defensive side of the ball all season long. The core of the offense in still intact with Calvin Dawson (avg over 100 pg last year) leading the attack. On the other side, we have a new system returning just 3 offensive starters from a year ago. I think Tulsa will have a year or two of rebuilding until they get back to the level of play we have seen in years past. Love the points in this one.....

Just played these....

Syracuse +3.5 (-105) Loss
I hope to see some improvement from the Orange this year. Gotta like getting points in the Dome against a team who has struggled on the road as of late winning just 3 of their last 10. Syracuse has lost just twice their past 20 games at home vs a non conference foe.


Wyoming +3.5 Win

Virginia has been a great fade on the road the past couple years. I expect that trend to continue this week. Wyoming is now 10-2 ats their past 12 has a home dog.

Central Florida +8 Win
Love this one... 16 Starters coming back for CFU going up against a team who historically struggles to cover the spread as a home favorite. Have a feeling next weeks clash with BC might cloud the minds of the coach's and players...

Miss State +21 (-130) Loss
Been watching this line go up all week. bought a point to make it an even 3 td's. LSU retruns just 5 starters on offense and has VT next week. No doubt they get the win, but I smell backdoor....

Name anyone on offensive for either of these teams who is a threat to score this evening. I expect a field position battle tonight with special teams being the key. Already took the home team getting the points, but really like this under!

Follow the Illini pretty close. Starting to really come around on offense, but has a brutal defense. Missouri has one of the most under rated qb's in college football and has averaged 40+ points per game in their season opener over the past 8 years. Really feel this will be a shoot out! The Homer in me wants to take the points as well, but learned long ago never to bet with your heart.
