I'm in the market for a laptop too. I was told with Vista that you need at least 1024mb or it will be too slow. That Acer looks good. I think you can get a decent one for 500-650.

I also have a Dell Inspiron and love it I have 2 gb ram. The ram is used for processing. The more Ram you have the faster your computer will be. Someone Correct me if Im wrong) I have 40 gb of memory. Memory is obviously memory. And all the other stuff I just picked from on Dell.com. When your going through the process of buying a computer on there the website is really good at picking the specs and explaining to u what everything is and how much you need by what you do on the computer. I 100% recommend Dell.
My Dell Inspiron Loaded costed 1700 bucks 2 years ago and still working awesome. Working like brand new.

Thanks guys and I have also been looking at a dell. They have a new line for small business called Vostro and that is wher I am leaning right now. It has an amd prossecor 1.7 ghz, 60 GB harddrive and a gig of memory. While I still do not understand fully what it all does I have learned a lot over the last few days. Lucky for me I got some friends that can help me out. Dont have to worry about software as I have a guy that can hook me up with office deluxe for free. Right now I am looking at about $700 and I am not sure that I need anything else. I took a look at the acer as well eternal and it also looks like a fine machine. I am kind of partial to dell if all things are equal, but I am going to keep looking and will have one bought by sunday. Thanks again guys

Well if you can get a good dell for $700 that's a great price.
