Although it was indicated Monday that he'd be in the bullpen against the Angels, Tim Wakefield was left off Boston's roster for the ALDS.
Wakefield had a cortisone shot for his sore back Saturday, and the Red Sox thought resting him was the way to go. He's still the favorite to be the fourth starter in the ALCS should the Red Sox get there. Jon Lester will take Wakefield's place in the pen. Since the Red Sox are going with just 10 pitchers, they'll carry three catchers and a bench of Jacoby Ellsbury, Eric Hinske, Bobby Kielty and Alex Cora.

Adam Eaton wasn't one of the 10 pitchers included on the Phillies' postseason roster announced Tuesday.
The Phillies intend to use a rotation of Cole Hamels, Kyle Kendrick, Kyle Lohse and Jamie Moyer in the NLDS against the Rockies, though Lohse could be pushed back if he's needed as a reliever in the first two games. Brett Myers, Tom Gordon, J.C. Romero, Antonio Alfonseca, Clay Condrey and Jose Mesa will comprise the pen. Geoff Geary wasn't included because of a sore elbow. The Phillies will also go with three catchers because of Carlos Ruiz's bruised elbow. That means there's no room for Chris Roberson.

The Angels will leave Gary Matthews Jr. off their postseason roster because of his sore left knee.
Manager Mike Scioscia also said that Bartolo Colon would be off the roster for the series against Boston. The Angels will likely open the series with Reggie Willits in center, Chone Figgins in right, Maicer Izturis at third and Vladimir Guerrero DHing.

The Cubs have decided to carry both Jason Marquis and Kevin Hart on the NLDS roster. Craig Monroe didn't make the cut.

Doug Davis isn't particularly tough on left-handed hitters, so the Cubs didn't feel that they needed someone to start over Jacque Jones against him. The Cubs are carrying Felix Pie to act as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement. Marquis and Hart will be in the bullpen. Steve Trachsel, Sean Marshall and Will Ohman weren't included.
