Don't know what to say?

Customer of mine bought one and sold it within 3 weeks. He was sure that the power was overrated and was upset because he got rid of his '02 BMW M5 for it. I've heard from a few people that handling is still not it's strongpoint.

I figured you for a GM man. :SIB

Thats interesting to me as I own both a BMW 540 sport (6speed) and a mustang GT( wife's ride) and I would not consider for a moment giving up the BMW and its performance for any domestic ride. That guy must be nuts.

great looking ride DR. be careful with that horse power, the cops love to target cars like this.

GT 500

GT 500

Nice car but don't expect the 500 horses on the road. 28% of them ponies are all tied up under the hood. Rear wheel HP and cranckshaft HP is two different measurements.
It all depends on what a person wants, a nice Cobra that looks good, or a regular GT without the snake and a modest build from Livernois Motorsports with a blower that also looks good. By the way, the GT will cost a lot less than half of the GT500 with the mods, Blower, 410 gears in the rear end, Eibach springs, and best of all will beat the GT500 in 1/4 mile.
If you dont believe the shortage of HP, go to a speed shop and have them dyno it. But if you bought it just for the snake and not the power, don't worry about it...:SIB Either way you got a nice ride there....:00x15

Holy shit tough crowd :scared I bet most are just upset because they're rolling around town in a minivan.

Nice ride Doc...enjoy it. I'd suggest taking the plastic off the seats, depending on how dirty the girls are you'll be bringing home to slay that night. ;)

That is one sweet ride. I am getting my wife a GT in the next couple of week but in is not going to be a cobra 500. Congrats!

I'm concerned. How many women can you fit in the back of that thing?

Not enough!:nono:

look at it another way...it's weight limiting.

"I'm sorry ladies, although I do have room for you three 110 pounders, your fatty friend is gonna have to hail a cab".

very good post. Hangar 18, I am a car buff so I know what you are saying. I have a 95 trans am sitting in the garage that has been dynoed with over 700 rear wheel horsepower. It's true i could have purchased a gt and added all the mods to make equal power for a cheaper price, but this is a shelby gt 500. Very few made are available in canada (I think 40-50). I have yet to see one in Toronto yet, but I am going to make this a project car. Friends are telling me to just store it as its a collector car, but why would one buy a car then store it? lol

I can attest that you know your cars as well.... I will keep you updated what is going on with this one. I was promised a signature by mr shelby on the dash as I know it would increase the car's value, but maybe its a good thing he forgot to sign it (looks tacky) and I plan to use the car.

I am thinking about adding a turbo next month....

Doc

Beautiful car there. With that much power its hard not to go down residential streets keeping it under 60 mph.

One question - why would you get the convertible living in canada ?

I remember a convertible I had years ago and in the winter I just suffered with cold breezes coming in all the time. I never could keep the inside warm in the winter time ?

I am hoping technology has solved that problem.

Congrats

Congrats

I would never buy a FORD they are absolute JUNK. To think that one day that car would be worth what a SHELBY in the 60's brings in today is a dream that wont come true. Not knocking your purchase its your money. So many BETTER cars that are just as fast to put my money into.
