Cincinnati at Buffalo:

CIN -1
43

Cincy continues to lose and their recent history against the Bills suggests those losing ways won't end this week. The Bengals have lost five straight trips to Rich Stadium and are 1-7 ATS overall against Buffalo.

Oddsmakers currently have the Bills listed as 3-point favorites versus the Bengals, while the game's total is sitting at 43?.

The Bengals lost to Pittsburgh 24-13 as a 4-point underdog in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (48).

Carson Palmer completed 23-of-31 passes for 205 yards with a touchdown for Cincinnati, while T.J. Houshmandzadeh had seven receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown.

The Bills defeated the Jets 13-3 as a 3-point underdog in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (38.5).

J.P. Losman threw an 85 yard touchdown pass to Lee Evans after replacing an injured Trent Edwards to secure the win for Buffalo.

Current streak:
Buffalo has won 2 straight games.

Team records:
Cincinnati: 2-5 SU, 2-4-1 ATS
Buffalo: 3-4 SU, 5-2 ATS

Cincinnati most recently:
When playing in November are 6-4
When playing on turf are 5-5
After being outgained are 2-8
When playing outside the division are 3-7

Buffalo most recently:
When playing in November are 6-4
When playing on turf are 5-5
After outgaining opponent are 6-4
When playing outside the division are 3-7

A few trends to consider:
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Cincinnati's last 7 games when playing Buffalo
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Cincinnati's last 6 games when playing on the road against Buffalo
Cincinnati is 15-6-2 ATS in its last 23 games on the road
Cincinnati is 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
Buffalo is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Cincinnati
Buffalo is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Cincinnati
Buffalo is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games at home
Buffalo is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games when playing Cincinnati

Don't get too excited about J.P. Losman's performance in relief of an injured Trent Edwards on Sunday. Yes, he had the 85-yard TD pass to Lee Evans, but that ball was underthrown and should've been picked off. The Bengals enter Sunday's game at Buffalo having lost eight straight to the Bills. Cincy's last win came in the 1988 AFC title game, leading to a Super Bowl appearance. We're pretty sure a win Sunday won't lead to the same.

San Diego at Minnesota:

SD -7
41

San Diego naysayers have retreated to the sidelines again, as have Adrian Peterson for Rookie of the Year backers. The Chargers catch the Vikes in a slump (1-7 ATS overall) and plan to show Peterson how it's really done with that LT guy.

Oddsmakers currently have the Chargers listed as 7-point favorites versus the Vikings, while the game's total is sitting at 41.

The Chargers defeated Houston 35-10 as a 10-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (45.5).

Philip Rivers threw for 130 yards with three touchdowns passes for San Diego, while Antonio Gates caught three passes for 92 yards with two touchdowns.

The Vikings lost to Philadelphia 23-16 as a 1-point underdog in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (37.5).

Kelly Holcomb completed 7-of-16 passes for 88 yards with a touchdown for Minnesota, while Adrian Peterson rushed for 70 yards on 20 carries.

Current streak:
San Diego has won 3 straight games.
Minnesota has lost 2 straight games.

Team records:
San Diego: 4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS
Minnesota: 2-5 SU, 2-3-2 ATS

San Diego most recently:

When playing outside the division are 7-3

Minnesota most recently:
When playing in November are 7-3
When playing on turf are 3-7
After being outgained are 2-8
When playing outside the division are 2-8

A few trends to consider:
San Diego is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Minnesota
The total has gone OVER in 4 of San Diego's last 5 games when playing Minnesota
San Diego is 14-4 SU in its last 18 games
The total has gone OVER in 7 of San Diego's last 9 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Minnesota's last 5 games when playing San Diego
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Minnesota's last 6 games at home
Minnesota is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games at home
Minnesota is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games when playing San Diego

Was there ever any doubt that the emotionally charged Chargers would win for the beleaguered home folks on Sunday? Of course it helps that San Diego's on a roll. The Chargers have won their last three by a combined 77 points. Jeff George -- yes, 39-year-old Jeff George -- is intrigued by the Vikings' offense and wants to come back, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. One problem: George hasn't thrown an NFL pass since 2001. Hey, is this April 1?

Seattle at Cleveland:

CLE -1.5
46.5

Don't look now, but Cleveland has won three of four games and they face a team in a funk in Seattle this week. The Seahawks beat the Rams in Week 8, but was that a real test? Were their routs at the hands of New Orleans and Pittsburgh truer indicators of where they are form-wise?

Oddsmakers currently have the Browns listed as 1-point favorites versus the Seahawks, while the game's total is sitting at 47.

The Seahawks defeated St. Louis 33-6 as a 7.5-point favorite in Week 7. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (39.5).

Matt Hasselbeck threw for 195 yards with two touchdowns for Seattle, while Will Heller caught two touchdown passes in the win.

The Browns defeated St. Louis 27-20 as a 3-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (46.5).

Derek Anderson passed for 248 yards with three touchdowns for Cleveland, while Braylon Edwards had eight receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Current streak:
Cleveland has won 2 straight games.

Team records:
Seattle: 4-3 SU, 3-3-1 ATS
Cleveland: 4-3 SU, 5-2 ATS

Seattle most recently:
When playing in November are 8-2
When playing on grass are 3-7
After outgaining opponent are 6-4
When playing outside the division are 6-4

Cleveland most recently:
When playing in November are 3-7
When playing on grass are 4-6
After being outgained are 4-6
When playing outside the division are 5-5

A few trends to consider:
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Seattle's last 5 games
The total has gone OVER in 15 of Seattle's last 22 games on the road
Seattle is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games
Seattle is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Cleveland's last 5 games
Cleveland is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Cleveland's last 6 games at home
Cleveland is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games at home

Expect the Seahawks' offense to get a jump start this week against the Browns. Starting wide receivers Deion Branch and D.J. Hackett are expected back from injuries. Hackett hasn't played since the opener. The Browns' last two wins have come against the league's two winless teams, but who cares? It's the first time since 2003 that Cleveland has won two straight games. At 4-3, the Browns are over .500 for the first time in Romeo Crennel's tenure.

The Colts are perfect at 7-0 and coming off decisive road routs. They are the defending Super Bowl champions. And they are 4-point home underdogs to a team that has ridden roughshod over every foe so far this season in the Patriots. It's the latest Game of the Decade in the NFL and it should be a beauty.

Oddsmakers currently have the Patriots listed as 4-point favorites versus the Colts, while the game's total is sitting at 57.

The Patriots destroyed Washington 52-7 as a 14.5-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (46.5).

Tom Brady threw three touchdowns passes and ran in for two more for New England, while Wes Welker caught nine passes for 89 yards with a touchdown in the win.

The Colts defeated Carolina 31-7 as a 7-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (44).

Peyton Manning completed 14-of-30 passes for 254 yards with two touchdowns for Indianapolis, while Joseph Addia rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown pass in the win.

Current streak:
New England has won 8 straight games.
Indianapolis has won 7 straight games.

Team records:
New England: 8-0 SU, 8-0 ATS
Indianapolis: 7-0 SU, 5-2 ATS

New England most recently:
When playing in November are 6-4
When playing on turf are 9-1

When playing outside the division are 9-1

Indianapolis most recently:
When playing in November are 9-1
When playing on turf are 9-1
After outgaining opponent are 10-0
When playing outside the division are 10-0

A few trends to consider:
New England is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
New England is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games
The total has gone OVER in 8 of New England's last 9 games
New England is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games on the road
Indianapolis is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
Indianapolis is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games at home
Indianapolis is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
Indianapolis is 9-2 ATS in its last 11 games

The issue for us is not running up the score -- it's risking Tom Brady's health during times when the game no longer is in doubt. Bill Belichick may be the best coach in the league, but that sure seems like a stupid, stubborn move. Win or lose on Sunday, the Colts suspect this will be the first of two against the Pats. "We will see New England twice this season," Dwight Freeney told the Indy Star. Presumably, No. 2 will be the AFC title game.

This is the most intriguing regular season match up in my lifetime. It is interesting that my original work up (no home field modifiers or anything) was 39-34 in favor of the cheaters. I will throw this out to you just as additional info. Under normal circumstances, Indy gets (-4) on defense and (+3) on offense for home field. This equates to 37-35 in favor of Indy. :00hour However, Marvin Harrison is the big difference in this game. The Colts need Marvin to win IMO. One thing for sure, this game goes over the total!

Houston at Oakland:

OAK -3
41

Whose losing streak will end in Week 9 ? Oakland's or Houston's? Both struggled to score last week and Oakland hasn't scored more than 14 points in three straight losses. The Texans have both prior meetings, but the Raiders are small home favorites.

Oddsmakers currently have the Raiders listed as 3-point favorites versus the Texans, while the game's total is sitting at 42.

The Texans lost to San Diego 35-10 as a 10-point underdog in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (45.5).

Sage Rosenfel completed 17-of-27 passes for 176 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for Houston, while Kevin Walter caught seven passes for 77 yards.

The Raiders lost to Tennessee 13-9 as a 7-point underdog in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (39).

Daunte Culpepper completed 15-of-32 passes for 167 yards with an interception for Oakland, while Justin Vargas rushed for 61 yards on 12 carries.

Current streak:
Houston has lost 3 straight games.
Oakland has lost 3 straight games.

Team records:
Houston: 3-5 SU, 3-5 ATS
Oakland: 2-5 SU, 3-4 ATS

Houston most recently:
When playing in November are 2-8
When playing on grass are 5-5
After outgaining opponent are 5-5
When playing outside the division are 5-5

Oakland most recently:
When playing in November are 2-8
When playing on grass are 2-8
After outgaining opponent are 3-7
When playing outside the division are 3-7

A few trends to consider:
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Houston's last 6 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Houston's last 7 games
Houston is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
Houston is 1-5 SU in its last 6 games
The total has gone UNDER in 14 of Oakland's last 19 games
The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Oakland's last 9 games at home
Oakland is 3-9 ATS in its last 12 games
Oakland is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games at home

The Raiders were hit with 14 penalties for 100 yards in the loss to Tennessee. Of those 14 penalties, 11 were committed by the offense -- eight by the offensive line (six false starts, two holding calls). How bad has it gotten in Houston? Even the long-snapper is making mistakes. For the first time in 599 career snaps, Bryan Pittman botched a special-teams snap, leading to an easy San Diego touchdown.

Dallas at Philadelphia:

Dallas -3.5 (84%)
46.5

Dallas continues to get hyped as the NFC's best team despite being routed by New England and getting lucky against both Buffalo and Minnesota. Are the Eagles ? who hit their stride at this point last season ? ready to knock off the Cowboys in Week 9 when they host them?

Oddsmakers currently have the Cowboys listed as 3-point favorites versus the Eagles, while the game's total is sitting at 46.

The Cowboys defeated Minnesota 24-12 as a 9.5-point favorite in Week 7. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (46.5).

Tony Romo threw for 277 yards with a touchdown for Dallas, while Terrell Owens caught seven passes for 103 yards and a touchdown in the win.

The Eagles defeated Minnesota 23-16 as a 1-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (37.5).

Donovan McNabb completed 23-of-36 passes for 333 yards with a touchdown for Philadelphia, while Brian Westbrook rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in the win.

Team records:
Dallas: 6-1 SU, 5-2 ATS
Philadelphia: 3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS

Dallas most recently:
When playing in November are 6-4
When playing on grass are 6-4
After outgaining opponent are 8-2
When playing within the division are 4-6

Philadelphia most recently:
When playing in November are 5-5

After outgaining opponent are 5-5
When playing within the division are 6-4

A few trends to consider:
Dallas is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games
Dallas is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Dallas's last 6 games when playing on the road against Philadelphia
Dallas is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
Philadelphia is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games when playing at home against Dallas
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Philadelphia's last 6 games when playing at home against Dallas
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Philadelphia's last 5 games at home
Philadelphia is 11-3 SU in its last 14 games when playing Dallas

That Week 10 matchup against the Giants looms large -- and that makes Sunday's contest against the Eagles even more difficult from a focus standpoint. The Cowboys are just 1-7 in their last eight games in Philly. QB Donovan McNabb's knee must be feel better. On Sunday, the Eagles called a designed running play for McNabb for the first time this season. "He's getting better every week," coach Andy Reid said.

Will post how it went yesterday in a while. I really have no idea, been too busy to look.

Tonight!

Baltimore at Pisstburgh:

PISS -9.5
36

Baltimore can't cover a spread to their lives. Pittsburgh can't help but covering spreads at home. But is the total the better play in Week 9 when these defensive division rivals clash? The Ravens have covered four straight meetings, but the Steelers are OVER machines at home (16-6 past 22).

Oddsmakers currently have the Steelers listed as 7?-point favorites versus the Ravens, while the game's total is sitting at 37.

The Ravens lost to Buffalo 19-14 as a 3-point favorite in Week 7. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (33.5).

Kyle Boller completed 21-of-36 passes for 191 yards with a touchdown for Baltimore and Willis McGahee rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

The Steelers defeated Cincinnati 24-13 as a 4-point favorite in Week 8. The combined score fell UNDER the posted over/under total (48).

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 230 yards with two touchdowns for Pittsburgh, while Hines Ward caught eight passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns.

Team records:
Baltimore: 4-3 SU, 1-6 ATS
Pittsburgh: 5-2 SU, 5-2 ATS

Baltimore most recently:
When playing in November are 5-5
When playing on grass are 6-4
After outgaining opponent are 7-3
When playing within the division are 5-5

Pittsburgh most recently:
When playing in November are 6-4
When playing on grass are 7-3
After outgaining opponent are 6-4
When playing within the division are 7-3

A few trends to consider:
Baltimore is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Pittsburgh
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Baltimore's last 6 games when playing on the road against Pittsburgh
Baltimore is 13-5 SU in its last 18 games
Baltimore is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games when playing Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games at home
Pittsburgh is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home
Pittsburgh is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games when playing at home against Baltimore
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Pittsburgh's last 6 games when playing at home against Baltimore

The AFC North-leading Steelers can really put some separation between themselves and the rest of the division in the next two weeks with home games against the Ravens (next Monday) and Browns. In case you're trying to get over a Colts-Pats hangover, the Ravens' Monday nighter at Pittsburgh is a critical AFC North battle. With two weeks to prepare, perhaps Brian Billick can come up with some fresh wrinkles for the offense.
