Bye week couldn't have come for LSU at a better time. Heard this today from reliable BR local:

Offense:

Doucet 100%

OG Arnold Conditioning concerns remain after his layoff. Pre season all american, has not played for 6 weeks. He has been sorely missed, and will be in the rotation this weekend

Defense:

DT Dorsey 90%

DT Favorite 100% for 1st time in a while ( note: Favorite opened season at 2nd string. Inherited job when Alexander was lost for the season.

LB Highsmith tweaked ankle, bye week helped, near 100%

LB Beckwith Shoulder is back in place, bye week helped, should be fine

DE Pittman Should play, but had minor lower back and hamstring issues which have gone unpublicized

CB Jackson Will be fine. May play with a face shield.

S Steltz 100%

Hope it helps. GL:weed:

Everyone is healthy except for Dorsey. Will Saban run right at Dorsey knowing hes not 100%?

GL this week Cie. Like your Vandy, Troy, and WF plays :)

If you didn't get my message in the NFL forum......
Helluva job you're doing in the BetJamaica Contest. Expect to see your name right up near the top at season's end. Congrats on the fine job :thumb:

Thanks Trollin, I have gotten many good breaks this season. I wouldn't bet on me being near the overall lead in the BetJam contest for too long. Once NCAA FB ends, I'll be forced to pick NFL games:scared

4-5 -1.35U this week

Its my first losing week since week 1, and it could have been much worse if Troy doesn't score very late. I might post plays the rest of the way, even though I will probably not wager on ncaafb again til bowl season.

It has been a great time to be an LSU fan, and has been so since Slick Nick showed up in Baton Rouge with his mock turtleneck and blazer in the late 90's. You seem to like LSU and Saints, Cosmo. You aren't from the bayou, are ya? Just curious.

BTW, you ALWAYS have a positive vibe about your posts and are undoubtedly among my favorite posters on any forum.

Thanks Cie, no not from the bayou but our
national golf course superintendents assn. has
their annual conference and show in Awlins every
third year, (Orlando, Awlins, and SoCal), and the
trip to Awlins is absolutely my favorite of the
bunch. If I ever moved there I'd fit in quite well.
I've said this a million times, you could eat at a
different place for 5 years and not find one bad
meal. Plus I just like the atmosphere and vibes.
Our last scheduled conference (always around
1st week of February) was cancelled due to
Katrina and we had to have it in Atlanta. I was
pissed, but we'll be back in 2009. :00hour

Want your opinion on something Cie. I'm a
graduate from Okie St. and I know a lot of people
like ragging on Les Miles including myself some
times but he did elevate the OSU program and
more importantly get several wins against the
nemesis Sooners which hadn't been done in
decades. Had he still been there I don't think
they lose yesterday or the A&M game just to
name a few, and they would play better on the
road. Gundy is a good guy and all but don't
believe he is head coach material. Just wondering
what your take is on that thought.

Hope LSU plays Ohio State for the marbles.
GL the rest of the season :toast:

K--

I think Les is a solid NCAA HC. I know little about the current Okie St HC, except that there has been inconsistent play since he got there. Les' record is 30-5 at LSU. I recall he won big games at Okie St, but until this season, he has fallen short in big games at LSU. LSU won both bowl games under Les, but 1 was over a Miami team that had given up, and the other against an outmanned ND squad. Last year he lost the 2 biggest games of the year @ Aub and @ Fla.

Another knock I have on Les is that he's fielded a very talented team since he got here, (4 1st rounders last draft and Dorsey would have been #5 , but opted to stay back), yet he didn't win the SEC west. True that the schedule was tough last year w/ 4 road games against top10 opponents, but that's life in the SEC.

Also, from the day he got here, it was well known that his eye is on the Michigan job. According to what was reported locally, his contract w/ LSU includes a buyout penalty if he leaves for any ncaa university, except Michigan. Given the succes of the LSU program this decade, I felt that they would have hired someone who wanted to come in and grow roots.

I bet he ends up at Mich before too long, but I am interested in the insider opinion of the CWood's of this board. Hopefully, Petrino will be sick of NFL life by then and will come back to ncaa for good like Saban and Carroll at Bama and USC.

BTW, drinks are on me your next visit in '09 :toast:
