He showed some balls going for it on 4th and one in the 4th Quarter. How many coaches give the ball back to OSU and watch them pull another one out. This is a program on the rise.

Lifelong Big Ten fan and follower here....hope this does not come off as being an apologist for the conference, but here goes.

The league is down this year. But, one reason why people have been dumping on it so much from a national media and casual fan perspective is that people have not realized how good this Illinois team is.

Can you blame them for being slow to see this? no, as the Illini have had eight total wins the last four seasons combined coming into this game.

Nevertheless, they are the clear #3 in this league having beaten PSU, Wisco and now OSU. Not to mention sticking with missou 'till the very end on opening day. The Illini have not really been given their due as legit team in the league, while teams like PSU, Wisco and Iowa were. As those teams underachieved, folks say so has the Big 10. To be fair, the league has underachieved, but its not as weak as people say because Illini has over achieved. If they are looked at as a legit team in the Big 10, all of sudden people look at the conference differently.

Probably rambling here....and I still put the Big 10 as a distant 4th behind SEC, Pac 10 and Big 12 in league pecking order.....but because of Illinois rise, this league is not as down as people say......still am shocked that my Wolverines went into Illinois and got a win......Juice will probably own the field at the Big House next fall when they play.

Maybe people still doubt them, but they wont after they beat Georgia or Tennessee on New Year's morning......or, maybe Florida;) Wouldn't that be an interesting storyline?!?!

Iowa didn't underachieve this year, they just plain suck, like the rest of the pathetic Big-10 this season. Don't see any of the Big-10 teams winning their bowl games--except for whomever plays in the Motor City Bowl....:mj07:

Michigan St vs Central Michigan will be a grudge match....in the end, the Chips wont be able to handle Ringer and Calucrick....or Albert Young, if they're matched up w/ your Hawkeyes ;)

But I see them all covering. Their opponents have to watch the film of their games in preparation. I think the Big 10's going to do very well

Yeah, just because the Big-10 isn't very good this year doesn't mean any other conference is that much better. 85 scholarships has really thinned the ranks of teams that could just dominate. I'll be on any Big-10 doggie in the bowls; lets just hope that a lot of them ARE underdogs come bowl game time.

Rumor has it that the Hawkeyes will be off to The Insight bowl in Az if they get by Western Michigan on Saturday. With all those showbirds already down there and the way the Hawkeyes travel, that game is almost a sure sell-out.

I agree with Big 10 bowl underdogs--especially against the overrated SEC:D

I don't think the Big 10 is down anymore than any other conference--everyone looks pretty weak this year in my opinion. One interesting note--10 of the 11 Big 10 teams are bowl eligible already!

Illinois should win the Big Ten next year. I think they can beat Auburn or Tenn in a bowl game but I think Fllorida with Superman would beat them.

Ohio st. will be favored to win next year. They return 20-22 starters plus the kicker and punter. They may not end up winning big ten, but they will be favored.

Papi,

I agree but more because Urban Meyer outcoaches anyone with a month prep and he will throw everything at the zookster and company.
