Coming out of post-season shutdown for one play ...

Outright play (3pts)

England to win 7/2 @ The Greek
Odds of 3/1 would be fairly marginal, but there is enough at these odds to certainly warrant a play. There is no doubting the fact that these two are the form players this week, with both of them winning in the last two weeks, and it is more than just form: they are the only two players in this World Championship event that are ranked inside the top-20 in the World Rankings - Rose is 8th and Poulter 20th. Now add in the fact that they have been close friends for many years on Tour. They have come very close to victory in the past - Poulter 5th with Casey in 2001; Rose 3rd with Casey in 2002 and 2nd in 2003 - but the players that they faced at the time included Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington, Jim Furyk, Adam Scott and K.J. Choi of the current top-10 in the World Rankings and there is no-one remotely of the same calibre to challenge Rose and Poulter this time. There is a good case to be made for some value in the 33/1 on the Thai pairing, but none look as likely winners as Rose and Poulter.

Further outright plays (3pts)

England to finish in the top-four +105 @ The Greek
England to finish to win 'Top GB & Ire' -140 @ The Greek
I never like putting too many eggs in one basket, but I simply didn't look at these markets as I was only interested in England to win! Quite simply, The Greek has priced up England wrong for this event and these plays should be much stronger than the 3pts on England to win, particularly the top-four market. Already putting up too many pts on this team for my normal tipping strategy, but I should have spotted these markets earlier!
