Yes, they are garbage (at least compared to USC and OSU), but Missouri needs to beat Oklahoma on Saturday. If Mizzou beats OU and if the voters keep their heads up their *sses and rank WVU ahead of OSU, then that sets up the Rose Bowl as the Real National Championship game between OSU and USC.

I know some OSU fans are more than sick of me pointing out that USC was the best team in 2002, but hopefully they'll understand where I'm coming from if two inferior teams (WVU and Mizzou) are chosen ahead of them for the BCS championship game. Hopefully OSU fans on this board will also make the trip to Pasadena and meet me for a beer in the Rose Bowl parking lot before the game.

What I'm really afraid of is OU beating Missouri. If they do then it looks to me like USC would face Illinois in the Rose Bowl (provided USC gets by UCLA). I guess it'd be nice to have a new team out there, but it wouldn't be a matchup of the best two teams in college football the way OSU vs. USC would be.

i had usc in future play from last aug to win title for a pretty good size play. had thought i would be able to at least buy some back and they would be in title game. that damn last second td play will cost the best team a change to win title.

I agree, I think from now on no matter who USC loses too, they should be in the National Championship Game.

USC lost to Stanford. STANFORD.

Both Missouri and West Virginia would beat Ohio State this season. I'm really not sure what would make you think OSU is better than either team, so I would have to assume you haven't seen any of them play. Agree that USC is the best overall team right now, but they don't deserve to be in the title game. But you knew that.

But keep it coming with the 2002 references. Always gives me a good chuckle. Obviously USC wasn't the best team in 2002; heck, it wasn't the second best team. But you already knew that, as well.

USC could and probably would beat any team in college football right now that they are healthy.

But, they don't deserve to play in the title game. Losing to Stanford at home was too much.

From a gambling perspective, I'm praying to anything they get Illinois in the Rose Bowl. Anyone whos ever read anything I've written knows I firml believe in money management. I would throw that all out the window for that game though. They couldn't make the line high enough. Would be the ultimate beat down....poor Illini......

I really am praying for this.....wouldn't even need to bet any other bowl games.....it would be like printing money....

WVU is a great team, but their offense is too gimmicky. I love OSU's disciplined defense. And I double-love Beanie Wells. That guy is another Stephen Jackson.

BDB, I happen to disagree on a Rose Bowl vs. Illinois. There are a few examples I can remember where a heavily favored team expecting a high profile bowl had a big letdown.

Btw, did anyone see the AP poll today? Georgia and LSU ahead of 'SC??? Come on.

Georgia's bowl future is not quite clear.

What is clear is that the Bulldogs, with a victory over Georgia Tech, are almost assured of an at-large berth in the BCS. And that at-large berth will not be in the Sugar Bowl.

LSU made sure of that with its triple-overtime loss to Arkansas on Friday.

The LSU loss knocked the Tigers out of the national-title picture. Therefore, the SEC will keep its natural tie-in with the Sugar getting the SEC winner. The loser of the title game between Tennessee, who defeated Kentucky 52-50 on Saturday, and LSU will have three losses and could fall to the Capital One.

The conventional wisdom is the SEC will get one of the four at-large BCS berths. Couple that with Georgia most likely finishing in the top five in the BCS standings, and it means the Bulldogs could be headed to the Orange, Fiesta or Rose bowls. If Georgia finishes in the top four in the BCS it is automatically an at-large team for one of those bowls.

One possible opponent in the Rose Bowl could be Southern Cal of the Pac-10. :scared

The winner of the Big 12 would be the opponent in the Fiesta. Oklahoma is the favorite to win the conference. The winner of the ACC championship ? Virginia Tech or Boston College ? would be the opponent in the Orange Bowl.

Nick,

You're wrong. After placing a 5dime bet on Mizzou this weekend as a part of my progressive fade against teams that have covered every game of the year, I'd say that last night, I was their biggest fan! :SIB

About friggin time that progressive fade came through!! ;)

Glad to see you finally nabbed it and won big with it!!! :toast:

It wasn't such a "big hit" as I only made a few hundred with way too much risk...as I look at it as just "erasing" some big losses from prior weeks...but it has never failed me. That was almost as bad a Rutgers a few years back and I don't think that I had as much rding on that game as I did this one. My local knew what I was doing and let me roll that one game over each week until this weekend. Personally, I think that he was riding with me and laying it off the whole way. It was exciting having that much on a game though. Almost like skydiving for 2 hours straight.... Had to sweat it a little there at the end. :com:

These teams are all better/as good as than Ohio State:

WV
Va. Tech
USC
OU
Mizzou
Georgia
LSU
Tennessee
Florida
Auburn
Kansas
BC
Az. State
Clemson
Texas:scared
Illinois:scared
UCLA:scared
Hawaii:scared

The only teams that would give USC a game right now are Oklahoma, Florida, Mizzou, Georgia, and LSU

USC would shut down WVU and WVU's defense would be no match for USC

WVU and Ohio State are jokes who haven't beaten any real team but WVU at least lays the beat down on teams

I love how every year, USC after losing to bad teams during the year, is ALWAYS proclaimed as the best team. I am sick and tired of the whining that comes from USC fans on this board.

Maybe they will win the Borat poll and somehow can be proclaimed that they won another national championship.

I equate many USC fans on this board to Borat in terms of IQ. Tulah seems to be one of the few objective USC fans.

Hey man, a profit is a profit either way.....considering how KU has been killing the progressive fade, its nice to see you came out ahead.....probably right about what your book was doing, that would be standard operating procedure, imo.

Good sky diving analogy......felt that way in a BG-Memphis pre Xmas bowl game a few years back on the Over.....made my largest bet ever, thankfully cruised to victory....and that is exactly how it felt like.....almost surreal when you make a leap like that in wagering amounts.

Good luck in the final week and bowl season....i'd be interested in hearing your plays. :toast:

I think you missed the part about the AP poll being writers from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY - not just California.

Every team has injuries during the year, every team has to work thru them, and if they can't... they lose, and it gets reflected in the polls. What makes USC so different?

Now, I don't think LSU would be up there still if their losses were not in 3OTs... but they were, so that's what counts I guess.

Yes, LSU lost to two respectable opps. both in OT and UGA lost to two worthy opps. as well. Neither lost to a 40 point underdog at home:142smilie
